hey all
i currently have a 92.4 in math, which is an a at my school, and it’s really frustrating because 92.5 is an a. soo is there a way to get my teacher to round it up just by 0.1%?
lol this has nothing to do with BU, but email or ask your teacher if she/he could or if there is any extra credit assignment or missing work you can do and turn it
HAHA i realized after posting this but i couldn’t delete it!! and ahh i already tried asking her for extra credit assignments but she refused to give me any:( @lacollege
I’m not going to address asking your teacher to give you a score that’s different than the one you’ve earned. Or about pasting macaroni onto a plate.
Let’s talk about earning a higher grade… about getting all the regular credit that’s available.
Are all your homeworks in? Complete and well thought out?
The points you’ve lost on tests-- what sort of errors were they? Careless mistakes, or errors in the process of solving the problem? After getting those tests back, what have you done about those errors? Gone to extra help to ensure that you understand the material or stuck the test into a folder, never to be seen again?
In short, why is your grade a 92.4 as opposed to a 96 or a 98 or 100? Don’t get me wrong-- I think a 92 is a perfectly fine grade, but you’re obviously unhappy with it. So what could you have done in the past- -and what can you do in the future-- to ensure that you’re earning the type of grade you can be happy with?
If your teacher gives you .01 to bump your grade to an A, s/he has to give free points to everyone. Why should you get an A when the kid with a 92.3 won’t? A difference of .02 isn’t much either. But neither one is a 92.5.
Asking a teacher for extra credit creates extra work for them. If they offer one to you, they have to offer it to the entire class. Why should they have to create, and grade, an extra assignment?
i totally screwed up my first unit, as i had a b+ overall, but i managed to bring my grades up by the end of the second unit, so all was good.however, nearing the end of the semester, we had to do a project involving modeling, and it was to be done with a partner. when we got our grades back though, i felt like it was done in a very biased manner, as my partner had gotten an a, whereas i received a b-. we both had (more or less) the same write-up, data, graphs, so the difference in our grades really came as a surprise to me. anyhow, that project really messed up my grades, bringing me back down to an a-…bUT my grade for my final hasn’t been posted yet, so maybe that will boost me up to an a? fingers crossed haha. @bjkmom // right i totally also how childish and immature i sound but please refer to the previous section of the comment, as i feel really cheated by my current grade. @austinmshauri
@happybunny101, That information would have been helpful in your initial post.
There’s a pretty large difference between an A and a B-, so your project couldn’t have been “more or less” the same as your partner’s. Did you talk to your teacher about the difference? You weren’t cheated if that’s the grade you earned.
My guess is that the “more or less” is what cost you your A. A B- is pretty hard to average all the way up to an A.
Or let’s talk about that B+ you had in the first unit. Average a B+ from the first unit with “up”-- whatever that means-- from the second unit, and I’m not sure you have an A. An A average pretty much means consistent A’s. Throw in that B- and I can’t imagine that the numbers work out the way you want them to.
