Any tips on how to get into Ivy League colleges?
I'm going to be a sophomore, taking 4 APs. AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus BC, AP World History, AP Statistics, honors sophomore English, and Spanish 3. I don't have to take P.E. because I have cross country + track which is P.E. credit, and my "elective" is AP Statistics. I've taken the SAT once, got 2260. I also volunteer at a hospital, and have private music lessons. So any ideas on other things to do to get into Stanford or MIT or Harvard?

Calm down a wee bit.

You're on track academically. Just continue doing well in your classes. I'm sure that if you retake the SATs your junior year you'll score above 2300.

After that it's all about your essays and your teacher recs.

Right now, have some fun.

I'm agreeing with ses here. Take a deep breath- you're still just a sophomore! Keep your grades steady (don't beat your self up too much.), and you seem to be on track.

Even your current SAT is quite good, (so I hope, otherwise, I'm screwed!) and I'll bet your score very well after sophomore or even junior years. Be nice to your teachers, and find a job in a feild you are passionate in. Don't make life all about getting into the Ivy League; find activities, service oppurtunities and work that you enjoy and interests you.

Plus, it's high school. Enjoy yourself a bit.

make sure u have good relationships with ur teachers. dont be annoying but dont be silent in class

Find your niche. Think about what's going to make you stand out to a college or university in the next few years. You have time to shape your ECs the way you want them to be, so find that something you're passionate about and pursue it in any way you can.

Hah-you sound exactly like me. Sophmore-taking three AP classes, (I'm self-studying as well, though) 198 on PSAT freshman year, cross country and track, spanish, -strange. I think we should just concentrate on what we want to do and what we are passionate about. For example- I love philosophy, writing, government, and my main calling is biochemistry and I want to become a surgeon. So, more for my own fulfillment, than looking good to colleges- I am observing at surgury centers, and will start working at one next summer, I've taken/am taking/am going to take college classes in Ethics, Philosophy, Psyhcology, and Anatomy. And enjoying my sports. Just do what you want to, and it will hopefully reflect on my apps senior year. (:
