Does anyone know of any good community service project that they've done to help out animals? I would like to do one, but needed ideas. By helping out animals, I mean pets or wildlife.

I haven't actually done any volunteering with animals...
You could call you local SPCA shelter to see if they need help caring for the animals there (cleaning the cages, walking the dogs, feeding, socializing, etc). You could also see if there are any other animal groups (ARF, MEOW, Pawsafe, Pets for Life, etc.) that need help with caring for the animals, fundraising, awareness campaigns, etc.

Where do you live? If you are coastal, there are lots of marine rescue groups that need helps with birds, seals, etc

Also, in our city for example. we have groups that help people that are sick..you walk their dogs, that kinds of thing

As well, our Animal Care and Control has these great events during the year and always need help with the animals.

Our SPCA has those great mobile adoption program that seem to always need volunteers.

And biomaster, that wasn't even close to being funny, just really lame

Cookout?.....

Animals tend to recieve more offers of "help" than they need, lol. I've found that it's difficult to find existing community service opportunities that involve animals, but I did manage to land a volunteer job working at the zoo. You may want to figure out if your local zoo offers opportunities for teens; you aren't likely to interact directly with that many animals, but it can be an interesting experience. Or, you can check your local SPCA/animal shelters if you haven't already. All of the ones where I live at have higher age restrictions (18+), though.

If your goal is really to help animals, money would probably be the most needed thing. Tons of people want to help feed the little kitties, but far fewer find ways to cough up or fund raise the cash required to care for them.

have a barbeque

See if there's a Leader Dogs for the Blind program where you live.

Our NHS did a supplies drive for the SPCA, colletcing paper towels and dog food and stuff. How they went about it was a little fishy, though.
