Hendrix has once again been listed as a "Best Value College" - here's the link:

help! S was accepted to Reed yesterday...tell me again why Hendrix is such a great school!!! Pressure is on to go to Reed since it's a big name but Hendrix reminds me for Reed in alot of ways (the good parts of Reed)...so someone out there promote Conway or Little Rock!!!
Son is now thinking maybe Reed ...maybe Hendrix...maybe I need a serious vacation when this is all over! :0

Portland, OR? Wow, that's quite the plane ride isn't it? We lived in OR when I was very little. I remember it being very beautiful, but other than that, I don't know.

Saw your post on the Reed sight. That would concern me also. And I see their tuition is considerably higher. How's the aid?

We're waiting for the package to come in the mail...I'm sure it won't be as affordable as Hendrix or as generous with aid...they don't even do Merit aid.

Well I am happy to say the soap opera is over...S is definately attending Hendrix. I am personally driving to the Post Office to mail the deposit today!!!

So how did he make his decision?

There were many things he considered. Most importantly was the financial aspect. He really doesn't want to end up with a ton of loans. He also would like to do a semester abroad and with Hendrix it will be doable. And he likes the idea of being somewhat closer to home and Austin (driving distance) for personal reasons. Although Portland is a much nicer city, Conway and Little Rock are open for adventure.

Congratulations, Texasmom. I think from everything you have posted , Hendrix has consistently been the right choice for your son, and I think he must have felt that, too. (Now, please come over here and help me sort through our stuff. LOL.)

Lucky you, Texasmom. I sure wish DD would tell us her decision ... if she knows it.

That's great, Texasmom!!!

C-Mudge:
Your D and mine are very similar in their college apps and the amazing offers that came in...DH and I told DD to shoot for the best college she can and we'll find a way to make it happen...well she chose the ivy and now we are eating our words...yes we are making it happen but dinners are not what they used to be!!! And with S entering in August, well just say we wish we had a goat farm to have free milk...hummmmmmm, maybe some chickens in the backyard will help our food budget! ;)
