Can you major in HES (Health and Exercise Science) and use that as a premed instead of the actual premed major? Just wondering.

It is only a set of courses you need to take, Bio, Chem, Organic Chem, and physics. Sometimes english and calc. too. Other then that you can major in whatever you want as long as you fulfill those courses.

Some schools offer premed as a major. However, as bigndude says, all that is required is that you meet the required courses.

Just so you know premed is a major at the school I'm going to! Thanks videogamer!

Do people really major in pre-med?? Everyone needs to stop and imagine that they aren't going to get into med school and be prepared with an actual degree.

Blueangel, major in what will get you the highest GPA. This is what matters. If you absolutely love kitemaking and it's a major at your school then you should get a degree in kitemaking. I'm not too sure what the job prospects are for kitemakers, but at least you'll have an A or nearly A GPA.

STOP this negative type of exhange now please. If you cannot be constructive and avoid personal insults, do not post here at all.

I am really sorry if my post came across as rude. Whenever I post I am 100% trying to be helpful. This is because I wish someone had helped me 12 years ago when I started undergrad, that's all. I apologize to anyone who misunderstood me.

Anyway, I was just trying to add a little humor by using kitemaking as an example major. My point is just that one can major in anything and it is best to major in something that will result in the highest GPA possible. So, HES is a great choice if that is what you'll do best in. :)

Understood; that's why your kitemaking reference was not edited out. Thanks for the kind reply. I agree with the "anything" major.

It's ok hoberto, i thought it was funny. i didn't mind your comment. it wasn't mean or rude or anything.

Found this older thread and wondered if anyone out there majored in HES who has been accepted to med school. Looking at the courses required for the major it looks like a great springboard to med school, PT, PA, or other allied health professions.
