Hey all you Cornellians Out There (and others :) ), Chance Me Please!

All right. So I would like your opinion for ED and RD at CAS.

Courseload: Most Rigorous; Guidance Counsilor said it was unprecedented (not to mention I'm the only one who has taken all 3 AP sciences at my school (AP Physics C: M + E and M (self study the E + M), Chem, Bio)+ 6 others), all honors besides those (believe it or not, some honors are considered harder than APs)

GPA: UW (3.96); W (4.31)

Class Rank: Top 5%

Scores:

SAT Reasoning:
Math -- 800
Critical Reading -- 750
Writing -- 730 (12 Essay)

ACT:
English -- 35
Math -- 34
Reading -- 32
Science -- 30
Essay -- 12
Composite -- 33

Subject Tests:
Math II -- 790
Biology E -- 760
Biology M -- 740
Physics -- 800

ECs:
Math Team (9-12), Band (9-12), Jazz Band (9-12) (Alto + Tenor Soloist), Varsity Tennis (9-12) (Captain) (Conference Champions all years), Varsity Soccer (9-12) (Conference Champions 2 of 3 years), Yearbook (Editor-In-Chief), NHS Tutor, Kipp Academy Math Tutor, Started SAT Tutoring Company, Various Awards

Essays + Recs: Looking fantastic; I have other activities/things done that I can't think of right now.

Hooks: Mom attended CAS; Dad attended COE; Grandfather attended Cornell Law --> Triple Legacy (Not sure if this helps that much...)

So, would you advise me to apply ED (I know that will increase my chances) or RD?

I absolutely love Cornell.

You are highly qualified. With your legacy status, Cornell is a safety for you. I would apply somewhere with a lower admission rate for ED and just bank on Cornell for RD cause you’re in.

Wow, thanks!

Any more opinions would be appreciated!

I think you are a cinch. Triple legacy is a huge help plus your respectable scores and ECs.

i would be very, very surprised if you were rejected.
just work on that essay(s) and i’m sure you’ll be stepping on the ithaca campus next september!

however
i don’t agree w/ rotflmaospencer that it’s your safety.
i’ve seen a couple (including my friends, one who had scored a perfect on the sat’s) apply w/ that attitude& get rejected.

Your legacy status will not count if you do not apply ED.

That said, I do think your scores make you competitive even in RD (even without the legacy status)

Great stats

Apply ED if you want a sure bet

you’re in… undoubtedly.

try for harvard with those EC’s

theres a Biology E and M SAT II test?

Your scores are pretty good but I still woudln’t put cornell on the safety list, though there is a very good chance of getting in

Uh definitely not a safety. That being said, something would have to go catastrophically wrong for you to not get in ED (which is the only time legacies matter).

i wouldn’t believe those stats… but congrats on getting in Ivysaur

Wait why wouldn’t you believe those stats undergrad1992? Im hoping to get into Cornell RD…we’ll see

I would say apply ED. Cornell isn’t a safety for anyone.

Cornell cannot be called a safety for anyone but i’m 100% sure you will get in.

So yeah it’s a safety…

If you are not asian and your essays + recs go like they are supposed to, then I would say you have a very good chance at RD. That being said, this is still not a safety.
