What schools do you have a deep appreciation towards? I guess this is kind of vague, but i hear about how, for example, alumni from Dartmouth and Harvey Mudd thank their schools for the type of workload they went through.
Or is it kind of naive to say this? If it is, sorry.

I keep reading about how students from Dartmouth + HMC appreciate their school and often visit back of them, but I do not usually hear the same things from schools like UPenn or UCLA.

This post isn’t in the right forum, so I’d like to move it so you get more replies. However, I’m unsure exactly what you want…more information about D and HM (if so, please start threads on the forums for those specific schools), or input on more schools that have strong alumni support??

O yeah, I wanted to know some schools that had strong alumni support besides the seemingly impossible D and HM.
Also, I guess I wanted to know what about a school makes alumni support it so much–is it the environment, the professors, the workload, etcetc. I figured it couldn’t just be the professors, because… i mean i’m sure all college professors are smart, and at LAC’s, they care for their students. The environment… well, all schools in LA would enjoy the sunny days and etc. right?

I went to Carnegie Mellon for undergrad and donate money to my department every year. The faculty always went above and beyond to make my learning experience superb, the problem sets were well done, and I just loved my time there.

As things currently stand, Caltech won’t be getting any donations.

I am a proud Penn alum who loved my time there and am deeply appreciative and I donate what little I can. Whenever I’m in the area I make sure to visit Penn…

Princeton consistently has the highest percentage of alumni who give. We go to reunions every five years as do my friends, who include the dean of a very good law school, a Fortune 500 CEO, an economist who works at the World Bank, folks in private equity, medical school professors, etc. My wife says it seems almost like a cult to her, but it is just that we really got a great education in a good environment with really strong classmates. For the most part, we really had to work hard while we were there, but I think that adds to the sense of attachment to the place – as did the fact that there was not much to do in the town so that we bonded with our classmates.
