Hey! Another 'Rate My Chances' Thread!

Been looking through this forum for about 3 hours now and wanted to know my chances at the following schools. I copied another person's post because I felt it was the easiest to follow.

What are my chances at:
Davidson
Wake Forest
Tulane
Georgetown
Johns Hopkins
And let's throw in Harvard just for ****s and giggles.

I am a white male from southeast Massachusetts. Unfortunately for me, my class is ridiculously smart, with SEVEN students scoring perfect 1600s on the SAT. The valedictorian in our school last year, who got accepted to Brown, Columbia, Cornell, and Yale (ended up attending Columbia) would have been 12th in our class. I assume this will only hurt my chances.

Class Rank: 35/277
GPA: 3.93
SAT I: 690V, 630M (only took it once, decided that was good enough)
SAT II: Writing - 730; US History - 680; MathIC - 630
AP Tests: History - 4, English - 5

Extra Curriculars:
Indoor Track
Outdoor Track
French Club
Community Service Leadership Program
Boys State
Model Senate
Treasurer of National Honor Society
USA Track and Field Volunteer @ Boston Nationals
Elementary School Volunteer/Tutor (Once, ha! Count it!)

I've worked as a camp counselor, an ice cream man (go ahead, laugh), and a soccer referee, but am currnetly unemployed. I've taken all honors and AP courses (less math sophomore/junior year).

My other concern is continuing my track career in college. I'm pretty sure I can run at all the schools I listed except Georgetown.
Davidson, Wake Forest, and Johns Hopkins have all expressed interest in me for track, and the Davidson coach is flying me down there in December to stay with the team for a few days. He basically said that if I want to go to there, I can; thus making it my top choice right now. JHU sent me a special 'athlete's application', and they've talked about me staying overnight, but didn't offer to pay for a flight, so I have yet to schedule anything with them.

Anyway, what are my chances at a school like Georgetown? A girl from my school was already accepted there through a full track scholarship (early signing period - she's a state champion) and I want to know if this will decrease my chances at all. Also, I'm in dire need for a safety school, any reccomendations?

Thanks in advance.

Forty five views and no replies? Just tell me 'yes' or 'no'. My college decision weighs on what people on the Internet think.

harvard... nahh
jhu- reach, got a chance (based on academics)
georgetown- reach
the rest are matches
safety: i duno what do you wanna study/major

Cognitive Sciences/Psycholinguistics.

Unfortunately, there's not much in the way of 'safeties' for those type of schools. Tulane accepts 55% of applicants and Wake accepts 45% (plus track) so I figure I have a decent shot at those.

Apparently you can't edit posts. . .I'd like to add that I already had an interview at Wake Forest and it went pretty successfully. Don't know how that'll play into anything.

Okay, eclitoririca, let's be perfectly honest, your chances at getting into any of the schools you listed are about as good as the chances I'll be having a three-way with Lindsay Lohan and Hillary Duff tomorrow. Let's just throw out Harvard, just so you don't have to pluck your eyes and out and commit suicide upon receiving your rejection. you're from mass and applying to good schools, so is everyone, jackass, and I don't give a crap how many kids are going great places from your school, you won't be one of them.

please, let us look at your "stats." so you're GPA is impressive, I"ll bet it's got more weight on it than Al Roker before surgery.

your SAT 1 could be ecliptica'd, if you will, by a goddamn 12 year old. you decided that a 1320 was ok and you're trying to get in Johns Hopkins. this is the Johns Hopkins in Maryland, not in your aunt-mama's trailer.

Great, you do track, I know a kid named Johnnie who does track, his face looked like it got bashed in with a plunger and he's clinically retarded.

French Club, wow, I'm impressed, what the hell does the French Club do other than act gay and get taken over by the German club during fourth period.
Community Service, that's what everyone wants to see, who gives a crap, EVERYONE HAS A GODDAMN COMMUNITY SERVICE REQURIEMENT, UNLESS YOU SPENT EIGHT MONTHS IN GHANA GETTING AIDS, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

you're in a few senates, there, and you have a way with money cause you're the treasurer of your NHS again, meaningless bs

wow, you got to be a track volunteer. that's called standing on line and signing a sheet of paper moron.

you worked as a camp counselor (haven't we all) and an ice cream man ( you bet I'm laughing)
you think you can run at all those schools, and that Davidson's offering to pay for a flight? Guess what, that's called illegal, meaning that you're doing something called ********ting", cause Davidson, a perennial cellar-dweller in D1 athletics, isn't about to risk violating NCAA bylaws to haul your retarded ass down to Davidson, and for running at Wake, the only running you'll be doing there is to and from the laundry room to get new towels for their hulking basketball players when you're waterboy

Georgetown-- your chances? non-existant, same with every other school. you need a safety school? I've got one for you, it's called Repeating High School. you might as well just pull the goddman plug on your life by now, considering you're one of the stupidest people I've ever met. you want a reach school? try Oregon Community College. I hear great things about their program for the mentally disabled. Georgetown wouldn't even let you clean their floors

oh, and your interview went well? guess what, all the interviewers are trained in how to deal with the clinically retarded and misguided. In fact, I'll bet he's back at Wake right now making fun of you with his colleagues.

peace

umm yea Dutchie05 is a jack@$$ dont listen to him/her you have a shot at all those schools (i agree with dutchie we can toss harvard) best of luck

Heh, s'all good, I found that to be one of the funniest things I've read in a while and I needed a good laugh.

i think he probably just wanted to prove a point, there's no point in posting when ur grades are as good as yours, not that they're amazing, but still good, he is sortof right though, the sat I's could've gone up, i def regret not taking mine again... 1460 as a freshman, imagine what that could've been, but hey, i'm only a junior, if i'm not accepted to college this year, i still have another go :), good luck though
