Hey I am new and need some HS help...

Hey, I'm currently a freshmen attending a public school in my state. I am not happy with the education system there and I previously attended a private k-8 school. During my stay at the private school I was accepted to the MTS (midwest talent search) and went to Northwestern University during the summer. I plan to go again this summer, making it my fourth non-consecutive year there.

I am trying to do as many things as I can to make up for the lack of classes. Currently I am taking Spanish (will change to latin soon), English Honors, World History, Art, Bio Honors, Chem Honors, and Algebra 2. This summer I plan to go to NW University and take Precalc and perhaps Physics. I do tae kwon do Mondays and Wednesdays, swim for the varsity swim team (practices mon-sat), help teach Cotillion (dancing and etiquette for middle school students), manage my own stocks, manage a newly-formed media company with my colleague, and I am part of the local FIRST Robotics team associated with the nearby university. I also help with my church, associated with my earlier K-8 private parochial school, where I sing, lector, and serve.

Unfortunately my school doesn't allow me to take AP my freshman year or any classes of that sort. I am interested in transfering to a private school. My current school has scores below the state average on the standardized testing. During my 8th grade year I was invited to several academies and applied to Culver and Mercersburg. I was accepted to both but my parents couldn't afford a move and didn't want me to go on my own. Now they are thinking about moving to the east coast but they want to know which is the best school out there for me.

I am in no way a prep and I take school not as seriously as I could but I need a life amidst the chaos. I play online games with several of my friends and sometimes on rare occasions my mom lets me go out with them. I constantly go to movies, at least once a month. I read and I am learning new media skills for my company. I am not very stingy at all and my parents aren't rich. Personally I don't find myself superior to anyone. I didn't get my first Abercrombie clothes until this Christmas and don't care too much about fashion and I am completely againts fimage, or the fear of my image (Super Camp!). I don't have a girlfriend currently but I have had one before, I don't drink (unless its like champagne or something in very small amounts during holidays), and I don't do drugs. I have big dreams and I just hope and pray I can fulfill them. My goal is to attend an IVY League school. Since I am part of FIRST Robotics, I am interested in MIT but since I love Law and the Arts I am also considering Harvard.

Thank you very much for your help.

I don't really know what is your question, but it seems like you need help on picking out which school is best for you. Go and visit them if you can. It seems like you are interested in taking challenging classes, so see what they have to offer for APs. Ask the students how school is like for them. Read the student newspaper. Get as much as you can out of the school visit.

I should have been more direct with my question. I am asking what would be the best private/parochial high school would be best for me. I was wondering if any of you had any experiences you could relate.

I don't know which private high schools let a freshman or a sophmore take AP courses. Seriously.

I didn't get my first Abercrombie clothes until this Christmas...

I didn't get my ...wait I never got any! Duh... i wear just normal walmart tshirts and jeans. Why the heck would people buy expensive clothing when there are better things to buy like books, software, gear(TM), and stuff(TM).

I don't know which private high schools let a freshman or a sophmore take AP courses. Seriously.

Self-study. Seriously. Freshmen year is actually very easy compared to other years, so if you take 1 or two this year, and a few next year, you will have an impressive armada of AP's by end of junior year(only taking 4-5 junior year, but have 9 down on transcript!).

I don't known many private school out East but a really good one I know about that might be right for you is Lake Forest Academy.
You can be a day student or a boarding student. It isn't out east but still it still has the same environment and for what I know it has an excellent reputation and sends many students to the IVY league.
Also, I am very sure they offer AP courses for Sophmores.
I hope this helps you out at all!!!!!!!!!

I am taking online courses and doing the SAT on my own. I was already invited to Lake Forest and have visited their campus but my dad didn't care too much for it. Otherwise I would have gone because I was offered a 6k scholarship.

You don't sound too bad off where you are - you already know what you want. When I was in 9th grade, I was slacking off and throwing things at people during class. Yeah, now I regret that and wish I had studied. Don't worry about it - just do your best, and take challenging classes, get into extracurriculars and stuff. Take APs when they let you. You have four long, long years ahead of you.
Can't help you with the private school question though. I go to private school - but it's pretty much a joke. If you're looking to go to one though, just search around, you'll find one that's a fit. You sound motivated.

Wizgamer-Before you and your parentsmake such a drastic change, I'd revisit the benefits of attending a school which doesn't traditionally send large numbers of students to Ivies/near Ivies. There's a trend afoot wherein high performing public school students seem to have an edge over the preps. Especially since it just showcases all of the initiative you're having to show now. I think you stand out more.
