Hey. I haven't been on here.. for a while...

So I just took a practice SAT test and my score was an 1870 (cr- 550, m-690 w-630).

here is the breakdown:

CRITICAL READING:
-lots of vocab mistakes
-many inference mistakes
-tone questions wrong

MATH:
-Every section I make like one stupis mistake that I will realize after I finish the test
-And each section there will be one question I just don't understand

WRITING:
-Ambiguous pronouns!
-Verb choices

Any tips to improve any of these (especially the critical reading!!!). I know IceQube gave me many tips on tone, but I still don't seem to get it. My parents expect me to get a 2200+ first time on the SAT and I want that score as well.. If anyone have some amazing tips, please tell me!

Also I read silverturtle's guide ini the grammar section. I think I'm going to get the Dr.Chung's math book for xmas. And reading, I really don't know how to begin >.<! I suck at it. I really just want all of the scores to be above 650 by the end of 2011.

Care to help? :)

And thanks for reading the whole thing :)

Well, for the math: if you can, buy every math book available on the market and solve it. I recommend ending your practice with this book: (http://www.amazon.com/SAT-Math-Bible-Jeff-Kolby/dp/1889057487) because it’s an EXTREMELY hard book. All this should make you prepare. I suggest having a huge notebook where you can put every hard and tricky question there and revise before the exam. Also, NEVER -and this is not just for the math - leave any question without knowing how you got the answer. If you have any question, just post it here on CC.

For the writing, solve as much Official writing material as you can, the official SAT, the online course, all the question and answer service exam you can get your hands on, and stuff like that. I have some QASs if you’d want them too. And if you can’t find the collegeboard’s explanations make sense, just type the question into google and you’ll find all the college confidential posts regarding that question. in writing section, Crazybandit - God bless him/her - helped a lot of students and he/she explains grammar even better than my teachers! If there’s a question that wasn’t asked before, feel free to post here and you’ll definitely find good answers.

For the reading, study Direct hits 1 & 2 and any good vocab book. I can’t tell you any other book coz I’m still searching for one! anyway, for the passages, when you find 2 answers that u can’t decide upon, scrutinize the answers in context of the passages. For example, u’ll find an artist talking about himself/herself and talks about painting. One of the answres in a ‘hat is the primary purpose of the passage’ question of this sort is ‘tells about the steps a talented artist made in blahblah’ this answer is wrong. Why? Because how can we know that the artist writing the passage is talented? This answer could be correct for a passage in the third person in which the author writes that the artist (someone) was very talented and took these steps or something like that. It’s subtle, I know and I was scoring way lower than you when I started but I eventually realized how to be better by paying very close attention to the answer. another thing i sometimes use is that i have to find a line in the passage that supports my answer. Ifthere isn’t, then you should check the other answers or try harder in finding the text that supports my answer. You don’t do this method though except when u’re unsure of the answers because it takes a lot of time. My critical reading scores are actually not that high, but it’s just because of the time limit I hope to improve my scores too…

Anyway, that’s all I can share with you. I hope your score improve friend PM me if you have any questions
