so i am an international student , i have hard time studying SAT english section (im fine on writing, but really bad on reading) i got 600 score in verbal section.
what should i do for remaining months, focus solely on VERBAL section , or forget it for like 2 months (do sat subjects instead, and prepare for verbal section during summer?) what would you recommend? REMINDER once again, im really bad at READING section.
I think the question you need to ask yourself is, why are you struggling? Is it reading comprehension? Vocabulary? Reading speed? Flipping between the questions and the text?
If you can pinpoint the problem, you can take targeted steps to remedy it.
If you haven’t already, I would also recommend you consider taking the ACT in lieu of the SAT. Some non-native speakers find the ACT easier because it is heavier on grammar and less intense on vocabulary.
For reading comprehension, the best longer-term remedy is reading more, from a variety of sources. US news articles, fiction books, Wikipedia, anything you can get your hands on. Make sure to take your time to parse what you are reading - don’t gloss over sentences that don’t make sense. If you can set aside 15-30 minutes a day to read English texts, you should be in a much better position by the end of the summer.
For vocabulary, memorizing lists of SAT words can be tremendously helpful. I know it’s boring and tedious but it did help me…
