after i helped my parents get back on track for the payment i started a Venture Capital company (we even have a branch in India)with my friend it is a really new ideas which can only be applid in China's econ condition, but it didn't run that well, still running tho, however we did build a new school system for poor people!! (which i architected) still in development stage, it is a huge project over 3 million (which we are probably have to sell our pants to get if we decide to do it now, but its on time chart... so next 10 years maybe?)

I am going to apply for patents for two of my proposal and ideas in China.

one more thing I work average 13 to 15 hours per day on Mon, Wed, Thurs (thats one of the reason i am going to college :O )

somehow i feel its more apporiate for me to apply for Grad school than college...... (too much work and stuff not much studying...)

forget to add, my last school don't do ranks, but i think i was 1 of 175 or something like that, and my essay is basiclly talking about the presentation process of my profitable schooling system to CEOs and i did included one of my proposal. i have a really good recon, but not from the sentor or something like that just regular school directors.

wut else... lets see...

ooo I have a C in my transcript in 10th grade english cuz i skiped ESL class back when i was a 10th grader.

I know its not every common but i was really hope you guys to help me, am i wasting my $65 on a slot machine? ......???

forget to mention, most college require 3year of Flanguage lol, well i don't have them expect my day time job is listenced translator, bank of america, wachovia, chase, etc. I am also court certified... well never really done that... just worked for a local lawyer for a while, medical certified (which took me a while to get).... but all i ever did was to go to the hospital and tell some pregnant chinese lady to Push push push.....

English is not your first language I’m assuming from what you said? Are you supposed to take the TOEFL? I mean Harvard requires you to have 3 to 4 years of English, but there could be exceptions on a case to case basis. I think, though your SAT is low, you stand a chance for Harvard. You come from an interesting background, moved a lot, and have accomplished much. I don’t know what the decision will be, of course, but your application will be thoroughly considered and not just chucked. No worries.

I really have no idea how Harvard will assess your achievements. They are very impressive. The concern I have is with your ability to express yourself in English. In your writings above you have repeatedly used the wrong word, misspelled words and in parts it is difficult to understand what you are meaning. By my saying that, please to do be insulted. I cannot imagine moving to a foreign country and doing what you have done. My reason for my statement is simply, I do not know what impact an applicant’s English skills have on their application and how those skills are weighed against an applicants accomplishments. I wish you good luck.

Thanks for all!!!
Well, I was able to get 4 year English out of my transcript. I pulled one year credit from China, and then I attended a night school and got my last English credit…… Yep no doubt my English still sucks, I got my essay proofread by 2 people, I think its ok
I don’t have any TOEFL scores… it that going to have a really bad impact on my apps too. Like the killer SAT I got there?
Marry Xmas and Happy New Year for everyone

did u take the SAT 6 times?

when are u gonna take the SAT IIs?

i think u have a good shot, because of ur struggle and ur awesome EC’s, plus ur valedictorian.

that being said, ur SAT is too low, and that C might raise an eyebrow at Harvard.

sorry lol that was not what i mean, i took it twice, one in Dec, one wayyyy back… counldn’t remember when… i will probably take SAT2 in Jan, i will have a lot of study time then…
yea i am just another person gun down by SAT1…
$65+$10 i think its a shot than most other project i invested in for the past year…

Thanks a lot man

does anyone has any thoughts???
please.

“MERRY Christmas and Happy New Year TO everyone”

“Does anyone HAVE any THOUGHT”

Other than that, best of luck man, inspirational stories like yours are what keep the rest of us humble, and I don’t even go to Harvard right now. I will be applying for Harvard Law though.

I got wutr mean buddy lol, I know pretty much where i stand now

Well I can’t match Harvard good SATs, and thanks for the english lessons lol
most my ECs are post Grad…
so i don’t know what i can offer Harvard… other than i am fairly certain my team can triple, its 34B end in next 10 years if they let me manage it… but thats probably not going to happen in this century

so lol good luck guys i am still applying…

I am a little bit curious, do they trash my apps after they see my Killer SAT?

Your application will be viewed holistically (as a whole). I mean if one factor (SAT) is bad doesn’t mean that you can’t offset it by other factors (your GPA, you are a val.!). I think that they might be lenient on your C in English (after all you immigrated and it was your first year in US). Don’t worry man, just apply and see what happens. I do sympathize with you because I know how life for an immigrant can be…

Firstly, WOW. I’m not going to say anything about ur english, because I’m in a similar situation… I’m an American (ethnically Indian), I moved to India about 5 years ago, and it’s been really crazy learning the local language… Really ticks me off when I try to say something and everyone looks up and gives a hint of a laugh. On the same boat, bro :)

I think colleges will take into consideration the amount of hardship you’ve been through… being an immigrant at high school is not easy. That said, all the stuff you do despite you’re economic condition is very (very very) commendable. Your rank despite the amount you worked will also help you in a major way…

The one thing that is going to kill you, though is ur SAT. I’m assuming you got really low scores because of your English… this is the only weak point in ur app, so I think most colleges will be willing to overlook it. The most important thing, I’d say, is get brilliant SAT 2 scores. Show that you’ve got brains and you aren’t going to let your English pull you down.

That said, I don’t think you should apply to Harvard… I’d say any top private university except HYPS, because they’ll have people like you, who are still perfect in every which way.

Good luck, man :)

Just a tip, get firefox, it comes with a spell-check… gives u a break there ;)

Just because someone outstanding doesn’t have an SAT score or 2200+ doesn’t mean they can’t get into Harvard. SAT scores are not the end-all-be-all of admissions. With all your ECs, your rank, your class rigor, and your hardship, something had to give. You’re not superhuman. I’m sure Harvard sees this, and they value those who “overcome diversity” which you did with your rank and ECs. SAT score is just a score.

AnnaSmith, you’re right. I second that. Peace :)

Thanks guys, but after some deep thinking… unless harvard needs another library, my chance of getting in is pretty much in vegas…

jk, lol even if harvard has space for another library, i would still have to take my chance at a slot machine.

Highly doubt your achievements,
if you really have done those, I would’ve heard of you before. (I’m from China too)

but if it is real, you can get in any school

good luck

No lol, thanks for the load of confidence,
where are you? our office is in Beijing for now (sanhuan) fuxing rd we just opened our office back in April, honestly there are thousands of company like ours and we are not big, we are not seeing single cent return for next 7 years (projected), but if you know about VC businesses, we rarely appear in public if at all… basically we only do business with people who we trust or have a special interest with… No disrespect (I am 100% Chinese too ) but if you want to do anything involve money in China, you need to be really really REALLY careful thesedays…

besides company is not even under my name, i own merely 18% of it.
I should write “cofounder” not “owner”… since i did write general agreement and proposal… also we are llc so everybody kind of play their own game

rather impressive. i’m not sure you can get into harvard, based on the score (though you have other great achievements, it does obviously raise some questions - i took three sections of the sat in spanish because our spanish teacher converted it, and i got perfect even though i started learning spanish three years ago). also your writing/organizational skills leave me a little skeptical because your post was rather rambling.

Which companies in India have u invested in (just curious…)?

well, i think you got 1860 is not bad at all for a new immigrant
