Hi - how big are wardrobes? Bed risers?

I have heard the honors kids are in Russell - so I think my D will end up with a z shaped room with no closet. They have wardrobes. Anyone know about how big/tall they are, any shelves? I suppose a rod?

The website says that the bed can be adjusted to 22 inches...bed risers would make that 32? right?

anything else helpful to know about this dorm would be good. I know there is no A/C.

Thanks.

Never lived in russel, but I would say they have the best dining hall on campus.

My son was in Russell his freshman year and loved it. He and his roommate ordered the loft beds and they put both their beds in the back section with their desks underneath the beds. Then they created a sitting area in the front section with 2 chairs, pole lamp and tv. It really worked out well for them.

The dining hall is great. He often went back there to eat this past year even though he lived on Laird campus. The people working there were very friendly.

The location of the Russell complex is ideal, close to many of the classroom buildings, and the Perkins student center.

I can’t tell you about the wardrobes because when he lived in Russell, they still had closets. But if they are similar to the one he had in James Smith Hall, it has just enough space for your current season’s clothes. There is a rod and some drawers, but the closets actually had more space for storage.

I could be wrong about the closets, but when we look at the room diagram…I only see wardrobes.

A loft would be ideal if the room mate is agreeable. How much are the loft beds? How do you order them?

Thanks everyone.

I found the info on the loft bed rental. I suppose it doesn’t matter whether the room mate wants to do it or not - looks like we can just go for it.

and BedLoft.Com

DD lofted when she had a closet-sized room in New Castle. Because they didn’t know how small the room was until they moved in, it took about a week to get the loft. If you order now it will be set up when you get there. It isn’t necessary for both to do it, either. I vaguely remember it costing less than $200 for the year. You can only use the service contracted through the school. I remember there being a link on the Housing Services site. Are all Honors going to be in Russell? When DD was a freshman they also used Lane and Thompson. Rooms are nowhere near as big there.

The Russell rumor for the honors kids is from other honors kids how have attended Delaworld. We will be attending D’s Delaworld on Tues, so we’ll see what info comes from that.

The information on the loft bed on the website is very helpful. I think we are just going to go for it.

Floorplans and furniture/storage dimensions are detailed in teh UDel website: [University of Delaware Facilities Website - Residence Halls Information](http://www.facilities.udel.edu/rhalls.aspx)

This could be very useful, once they find out their assignments.

Honors in Russell is not a rumor, they have been talking about it for a while. Still no A/C or guaranteed wireless in the dorm rooms.
