Hi there, I applied RD, chances?

I'm an American born male of Pakistani descent. I'm from Kenosha, WI. I'm dying to get into the SFS at Gtown.

My GPA is about 3.9, ranked 25/430 or so. I've taken all honors courses, including

AP Lit
AP Language
AP Bio
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB

ECs:

-3 years football
-2 years lacrosse
-3 years freshman mentor
-3 years National Honor Society
-2 years Intramural dodgeball woo
-3 years Quiz Bowl, defending city champs (captain!)
-Member of Kenosha (my town's) Mayor's Youth Commission (an appointed group of people who award youth empowerment in the city, one of 3 high schoolers)
-Taught Islamic History at my mosque to small children.
-English is my first language, but I can speak Urdu and Punjabi quite decently. By association, I guess I can speak Hindi as well.
-I can read and pronounce Arabic quite well, but I can't speak the language.
-I'm a licensed nursing assistant
-I've been playing percussion for 7 years

Job:

-I started a job at a local hospital this summer, and I still have it. It's a very technical job, and I'm the youngest kid working in the entire hospital. I'm kind of a CNA, but not really. It kills.

Scores:

ACT: 29

No SAT, us Wisconsinites are much too cool for that

:( My SATIIs are horrid. Noone around here takes them, I literally prepared for about a month and winged it. Here they are: :(

Bio: 700
MathII: 620
Lit: 630

If you want it, I can post a sample essay I wrote.

I don't really feel too confident at this point, but maybe you guys will give me good news. When can I expect a regular decision admission/rejection letter? I'm scurred.

Thanks a lot guys.

Sorry for the double post, but I guess I should mention that my Alumnus Interviewer said not to worry, and that he would be writing a positive letter for my admission to the university.

I can take it if you just say I'm screwed up the wazoo, really

I like brutal honesty

Um, I can't really give you a definitive shot at your chances. Some negatives are: your class rank is a little low for G-town, your ACT and SAT II's are good but not spectacular. You have a good variety of EC's but it'd be better if you'd been able to get more leadership positions (congrats on cptn. of quiz bowl though). It would've been better if you didnt list the activities you only did for 2 years. The good things are:You seem confident your recs are good, your have a good, rigorous schedule, you are of Pakistani descent, you are multilingual, and you kind of have geographic diversity(more so than the huge chunk of applicant from the east coast). I think you have a chance at Georgetown but its really a crapshoot.

Thanks a ton for the advice, I really appreciate it!

Hey GreenDayFan, you're wrong. I got into Georgetown ranked 20 out of 275. Then again, my HS is one of the best in the country score-wise.

But I'll agree that you shouldn't get in, but being Muslim helps.

I'm wrong? not exactly. I never said there's never been an applicant to Georgetown ever accepted with that low of a rank. I said his rank is, in general, lower than the average accepted applicant's. This is a true statement.

I asked around in "What Are My Chances?" and people there thought I was a match-reach.

I really hope I get chosen. Every day is a little closer to that final little envelope.

You have no chance of getting into top20

Gamer, I wouldn't get too excited about the interview. I don't think I have seen one person post that their interview went badly. Mine was awesome, the interviewer said she would write a glowing review. I got deferred but still talk to the alumni who interviewed me regularly. Didn't get in but made a friend and future connection, still a good deal.

Yeah, I'm not getting excited about getting in...I fully expect to get rejected. I have everything set up for UW-Madison in case, so everything's all good.
