Hidden Gem Schools For You

I have a lot of experience in searching and checking out schools and I wanted to post some of them to help people move along in the college search. These schools merit a good look - I have found they have a lot of options for student engagement and have a strong sense of campus community.

Here is a short list that you should check out. Good luck on the search.

Agnes Scott College

Reed College

University of Delaware

Ohio University

Bard College

Colorado State University

Claremont Colleges

Bowdoin and Vassar

I agree with Colorado State. We were there last summer for a non-college search reason and I was very impressed with the campus. There is an honors college and the tuition is pretty reasonable. Ft. Collins is a neat city- the "new Boulder".

reed, hampshire & ohio wesleyan were on my list.

Mills College Oakland, CA

Bowdoin, Holy Cross, Davidson, and Colgate-allvery good LAC's with strong alumni networks.

Rice University

Hope, Kalamazoo, Earlham, Grinnell, Occidental, Berea (though it is fiendish difficult to get into).

Rice? That isn't hidden....

Olin

Furman, Elon, St. Olaf, Hollins, College of the Atlantic, Warren Wilson, Deep Springs, Arcadia

I definetely agree with Olin. And rice isn't a hidden gem by any means. Everyone (and I'm not just talking cc'ers) know about rice :p

Allegheny College

Rice is a hidden gem; though many have heard of it, most refrain from applying because of its location.

tufts is a hidden gem...people underestimate how good it really is
