Right now, my highest composite ACT score has been a 31. I didn’t study much for it, but I’m taking it again. This time, I’ve been studying a lot, and I’m aiming for a 33 or 34. My problem is that this year, I’ve been making B’s in math. I make A’s in my other classes, it’s just that I struggle with math. How would this affect my acceptance into colleges? Do ACT/SAT scores matter more or less than school grades, or are they about equal in importance? Thanks.
I have a 4.1 GPA, weighted.
You have very good GPA. Usually grades are the most important factor when it comes to admissions followed by tests scores and course rigor. Much will depend upon which schools you plan to apply. Many schools are holistic and will take into account EC’s and your essays. There is no one size fits all and each school is different. Do your best and go from there.
All colleges are different. Colleges weight things individually, and no one can really tell what matters more for each applicant. I don’t think you will have a very big problem at all. Anything above a 30 ACT is respectable, and your GPA won’t bring you down. I had a 34 ACT and a 3.5 UW/4 W GPA (A’s and B’s), and I got into my dream school (U of Notre Dame). Don’t be worried, and let chips fall where they may. Good luck!
Relax. No college has an average UW of 4.0. Not even Harvard. A B is okay.
