I'm an undergraduate student major in biochemistry and wanna transfer to a top science school...But the GPA of first year is ruined by a damn course series...So should I take easy course to make up GPA or high level course to show that I'm not screwing up with the basic stuff? Thanks~

course series?

A selective college is going to want to see both a high gpa AND course rigor. It’s pretty impossible to determine, for example, whether a 200 vs. 300 level course is going to be better on your application than a 0.1 difference in your gpa.

Gotcha.
Yeah its hard to say but I think it would be better to do well in an easy course than do poorly in a rigorous course. I mean if you can get an A- in the 300 level, go for it. But if its more likely to be a B, or even a C, I think at that point your GPA is more important.
I would stay safe and take the course with the guaranteed A, but that’s me.

It’s a so call “advance honor course” but actually not even as good as general class and give really tough grade…I should warn the future comers about that…

Thanks for you guys advice~And by the way, should I take more credit or guarantee a better grade if my GPA is kind of low…
