Hi,
I have about a 29000 EFC, which is REALLY high for us, probably not going to afford that. What do you guys think will come of the schools, Boston College, NYU, and Brown University. (If I get in that is) Will it be mostly loans(which would be almost impossible for us) or grants and work study?
thanks

Boston College and NYU in particular are known for horrible financial aid.

Nor are you really likely to get a large amount of grants anywhere, based on your EFC.

What are your financial safeties? You need to talk to your parents and find out how much they can afford to contribute.

Well, that sucks. So you think BC will just stick me with a lot of loans?

Your FAFSA EFC is $29k. BC and Brown use CSS Profile…that can mean that they may believe that your family can pay MORE than $29k since things like home equity also get considered.

It’s very doubtful that ANY of those 3 schools will expect you to pay less than $30k…and there’s a possibility that they will expect more (especially BC and NYU).

How much will your parents pay?

Did you apply to any financial safety schools?

I got a 25k scholarship from St. Johns so that’s my safety. Another factor which I didn’t mention is my dad’s GI BILL which would pay for half of my tuition, but I don’t know where they cut that usually.

Your dad’s GI Bill will pay half of private school tuition? Or is there a max? Is it for all 4 years?

Find out exactly what the GI benefits are for a dependent.

Unfortunately tons of loans is highly probable.
