High SAT, Mediocre GPA, Few ECs --Chances?

Hey guys,

I have an OK GPA, High SAT, few ECs (although the chief position in one), and am applying regular decission... what are my chances in top universities?

Here are details:

My UW GPA is around a 92 & W GPA is around a 95...
Some of my lowest scores (generally 80s) were in Math, Science, & Comp Sci. although I'm interested in Majoring in Computer Science

I did get a 5 on both the AP Computer Science A & AP Computer Science AB which I think would help convince admissions people that I'm not that bad in the CS/Math/Science field...

I also got a 4 on AP US History, AP Physics B, & AP English Language...

But I got a 2330 my first time taking the SAT (800: MATH, 800: WR, 730: CR)

My EC list is hardly long, but I am the Editor-in-Chief for the Yearbook at my school and that takes up hours of time afterschool everyday, not giving me a chance to join other clubs

I was wondering whether my SAT score would help me get into some top schools or whether they would reject me because my GPA is lower than they like and my list of EC activities isn't long...

Any thoughts on my chances to get into a good out of state school or recommendations on which schools I should apply? (I live in NY but have no problem leaving the state)

Thanks

bump bump bump

Give us a list of colleges. :P

Sorry bout that...

U of Michigan
Northwestern
U of Washington
Cornell

I'm thinking PennState shouldn't be a problem...
please correct me if I'm wrong...

I think you will get into most of these.

That GPA isn't so bad.
How about UW-Madison and Rice?

You're a tough sell if you want to be a CS major but haven't done so well in math/sci/compsci classes.

If you're looking at CS, try Stevens Institute of Technology. High price tag, but very good CS program, great shot with your stats, and beautiful view (it's right on the Hudson.)

Cornell might be a bit of a stretch, and I can't say much about the others. Have you looked at Case Western?

Thanks for the tip

What do you think about me applying undecided or in liberal arts?

My grades in History & English are consistently good...
and I also have a lot of interest in politics

Would it be wise to choose that as a major or apply undecided and to change it to CS after a semester or two?

I'm confident in my abilities in CS but my teacher had a policy of rarely giving grades in the 90s... honestly, after that class, I though the CS AP exams were a joke...

Just to clarify what i meant by "Some of my lowest scores (generally 80s) were in Math, Science, & Comp Sci," I did OK most of the times, but I got a few nasty 80s as well...
