High School Class of '14 Summer Ideas

As Summer is quickly arriving, I am highly interested in doing something this Summer (community service projects/camps/internships, et cetera). I'm about to graduate freshman year (straight-As, all honors), and I have a complete resume upon request.

Ideas? Suggestions? Links?

haha i’m the same year as you- i’m going up to a Bible camp this summer, about 6 hours away from my hometown and i’m volunteering there for two weeks. I know a lot of people might not be able to handle being away for that long at only 15, but hey, in a couple years we’ll have ten months away right? look into volunteering and community service! ask a counsellor at school, a pastor, a teacher, anyone :)

heyy me too! i’m taking a head start in my APs and doing macro online…but i’m not sure from where yet… my school is pretty weak in the AP area(only offer 5, maybe cutting down to 4), so its a valid thing for me to do. I was looking into some camps for this summer, but they’re all ridiculously over priced.

Colleges would be impressed if you hold a job for the whole summer (and even continue it into the regular school year). It shows you don’t take your parent’s money for granted and work hard to earn your own cash. You may be thinking that at your age, people won’t hire, but that is simply not the case. I went into my town and looked around everywhere and found a soup/sandwich shop that was hiring and didn’t care about age - 15 is legal in NJ and probably most other states.
