High School Class of 2013

I’m taking IB Math, which is considered a little easier than Calc, but it’s a two-year course, so we’ve only covered select material.

Ohhh dfree.

Okay, so I have a study group in twenty minutes. I barely slept last night, and my heart is still racing. So. Much. Adrenaline. I had to reread my SIMR letter this morning because I couldn’t remember if it was a dream or not.

The subject tests cover (primarily, if I’m not mistaken) what was taught in AP classes, not IB - so though there’s frequent overlap in the material, IB students essentially have to learn everything.

naaw leah, u so cyewt!

Noes, I took pre-calc/trig last year, AP Calc AB this year, and took math II last year. The test only goes up to pre-calc/trig. Maybe if you didn’t go to such a fancy pants IB school you would have a better time with subject tests! So yea, you’re mistaken.

Oh, I meant in the sciences. I know that IB kids at my

are told not take the science and history subject tests because we don’t learn the right material - so I have to take math. And I just really dislike math.

Also, I just transferred to my current school, and the school I used to attend sucked. So my math < everyone else’s math.

How’d you review for the math sat?

Aww, can’t quote in-line. sadface.

I just did some practice tests and studied for my math final which was around the same time as when I took the test.

Okay. Initial shock has passed. It’s looking easier.

Last year I took a practice math II subject test without studying and got a 580, if that makes you feel better about yourself. Needless to say I didn’t take the actual test after that.

That actually helps on a dark, twisted level. Thanks.

Woo mission accomplished!

I am taking IB Math HL. And I am taking Calc AB right. Are you sure it’s hard? I heard it’s hard for most people.

^I don’t know what you’re asking. Yeah, I think it’s hard…

It isn’t that bad. There’s a massive curve which helps a lot.

Never mind! Did anyone take physics subject test yet?

I’m taking Math II in June. I took the Barron’s diagnostic and did pretty terrible, then took a CB practice one and got like a 650…meh. I definitely need to work on that. I’m in pre-calc now but my teacher isn’t good and I just really don’t feel like I have a great math foundation. Gonna read Barron’s cover to cover three times and take a practice test every weekend until June 2nd. Hope that’s enough.

I’m taking Bio subject test in May. I don’t even know, my teacher’s okay and I’m pretty good at bio, but who knows. Has anyone used the Cliffs book to study for the AP bio test? Because I’m doing the practice exams in there and barely scraping out a 5s. The MC seem really hard. Are these Cliffs tests accurate?

Oh and World History in June too. That one worries me.

Do you guys think a little more than a month of studying for the SAT is good enough to improve my score to ~1800-1850? I took like 2 or 3 practice tests and I’ve gotten 1600-1660 on all of them. I’m about to start a class next sunday that’s going to prepare me for the June 2nd SAT. The class is like 3 hours long, and there’s 6 of them. I’ve barely been studying for the SAT, because of my 3 AP classes, but by then APs will be done and all of my focus will be on the SAT

^Easy. I studied for about a month and brought my score up from a 1760 to a 2100.

^ Dang, that’s impressive AKS. Hopefully I have similar results too!

Ah okay, I think I’m gonna take History and Literature in May just wanted to see what everyone else was doing (:
