Exactly! What you fail to understand is that you know NOTHING about the people you’re talking to. I have people close to me who actually are mentally delayed and it’s disrespectful for you to say that. As I said before you have A LOT of growing up to do, and I’m not in Middle school BTW my school is a leading contributor to things like the autism speaks walk, because we understand that word are hurtful.

Also if someone isn’t amazing at math obviously an online course wouldn’t help, and evidently unlike you I choose to enjoy the time I’m not sitting down doing my AP homework. I enjoy things that are not related to school work, and as Yankee said there’s a TON of amazing schools other than the ivies

I tried to convince my sister into taking Alg 1 in 8th grade, but she didn’t want to. I took it in 8th. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking high school classes IN high school. She’s ahead in science. (The average freshman takes Integrated Science, and bio is a sophomore class. When I took bio there was only one other freshman besides me.) She’s taking Algebra 1 Honors. It’s not a regular class. All that matters is that she take the most advanced math classes available in HS. Alg 1 Honors is the highest math she can take. Plus, she only wants to get into UF. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I, personally, would rather go to a top college. Some of you are so… arrogant. The rest of you, don’t worry about what the people on CC say. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking freshmen classes as freshmen.

Meh. My math/science side of me wants to agree with what you’re saying, but like you said it’s an opinion and not necessarily true. It’s fine that you’re speaking your opinion, but try to do it a bit more…eloquently. As you’ve already seen, it’s very easy to offend people here. There are plenty of successful writers/journalists but those types of jobs are more high-risk/high-reward. You can either be really successful or jobless and poor.

High school blows if you want to get into a good college/university. So decide now if you want to devote the next four years of your life to your career or your social life. And I’m not even kidding. I wish had the ambition that I have now, three years ago. Seize opportunities, work hard, make the right connections (life is ALL about who you know). Don’t slack off freshman year; it’ll come back to haunt you.

Don’t sacrifice your dignity to be “cool” in high school, because what’s “cool” to fifteen year old kids makes you a d-bag in college kid’s eyes.

Find something you love to do, and do it. Passionately.

Yeah but high school sucks. Lots of fake people, lots of fake “friends” and I know I speak for tons of people. It’s not fun other than getting your driver’s license and getting the first real “freedom” of your life.

As a soon to be senior I can say that 100% of post #93 is entirely true. Basically join some things and stick to them. Get as deeply involved as possible in a few things.
Also, please don’t true to be the “cool kid”. Honestly, so many people see straight through it, and by trying to act that way you’ll essentially join a group of fake-acting kids. Also, upperclassmen will hate you. There is nothing you can do about it. I don’t know why but underclassman are just naturally annoying.

It’s kind of sad thinking that I am about to go into a place where the older students find me “annoying”. It’s not like a bunch of new students will be able to compare to the recently departed seniors who have been there for a while.

No, that’s not why underclass men are disliked. They usually walk in all high and mighty as they were just eighth graders, therefore the “kings and queens” of their middle schools. Upperclassmen dislike that, the whole “I’m so old and mature now.”

At least, that’s why I dislike freshmen haha.

Oh and freshmen year is a joke. I hate hearing freshmen complain about how “difficult” it is because it’s such an “adjustment.” honestly, freshmen year is easier than eighth grade.

^ this. Freshman year was a joke. Just don’t be annoying and you’ll be fine. I even made a lot of upperclassman friends along the way. They won’t all hate you.

Edit - Get involved too. High school is ten times more fun when you’re involved in activities.

Thanks for the advice, guys. It’s very helpful because I don’t have any older siblings or anything. I have a question: how easily can quiet people make friends? Even in clubs, I’ve noticed that people gravitate to the loud, obnoxious kids.
