So close; you just got to hang on a little longer. B-)
I know… I just have 2 days of class instruction and 2 days of testing left.
Lucky! My last day is June 4th! For 1st semester I have all A’s and I think that will be the same for this semester.
While we are on the idea of summer… Any going to start studying for ACT’s/SAT’s? I want to get the ACT over with in sophomore year. Junior year is going to be stressful enough as is.
@sewin2music I think I’ll take both sometime next year and see how I do… I took the ACT in 7th grade and got a 31 and the SAT in 8th and got a 2180 so I’m not really that worried about those tbh. I’m also going to take the Physics SAT Subject Test on June 6th, just to see how I do. I’m really not very good at Physics, but I figure I won’t waste all the information I’ll have to learn for the exam.
@gotmar Congrats on your scores! I recently took the test from one of the prep booklets and got a 28 composite. I’m looking into getting a prep book for this summer (Cracking the ACT, Barron’s,etc).
June 11th is my last day of school
I get out on June 11th x.x
I have all these ACT and SAT apps on my phone but I never use them.
Me too, but there are any tips so I’ve given up on them…and I get lazy
Same!
@sewin2music a club or activity or sport is a great idea. That’s how you can really get to know and bond with new people. Smile, be positive, have fun. You will do great!
@HS5331 Thanks, I just have to be more outgoing and find people with the same goals and passions. Next year will be better, especially with gymnastics(I’ve missed it so much!)
I think you all can easily find out who I am i.e. my name… Me and another member from cc on this forum. Want you all the join the kik party just for us! Search yourfuture2018 and you will find us under the group section, we are named “The Smarties”
Guys I am transferring to a new school for tenth grade and I need help. First this new school is further so can someone explain bus routes? Also they have a STEMM magnet and you have to pick between engineering or biomedical sciences. Does anyone know what PTLW is? And does anyone have any advice on how to make new friends when switching schools?
School just got out for me yesterday, and I’m trying to debate on what activities I’ll be doing next year. I will probably have to drop an activity or two so I can excel in the ones a follow through with.
My schedule:
AP World History
AP Environmental Science
Spanish 2
Gifted Chemistry
Gifted 10th Literature
Accelerated Pre-Calc
Band
ECs: Math Team, Sci Bowl, Model Unted Nations, Tennis, Marching Band.
This coming school year, I plan to start Science Olympiad at my school. I know this will take a lot of time and dedication, so I’m considering dropping marching band. My school has marching practice from 3-5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and then the football games on friday nights, and also occasional competitions on Saturdays that take up most of the day. So, will it be a good idea to drop marching band? I can probably become a section leader by my Junior Year, but is that leadership position worth the time that could be spent on other ECs?
On top of this, I plan to self-study AP Computer Science. I love computers and have actually built my own, but have miminal experience in coding. I have written several programs for my ti-84 calculator, but that’s about it. I also have made a basic html website, but it’s not really too impresive. Knowing this, how much would I need to prepare to get a 5, and what resources should I use? I already have Barron’s Computer Science A 7th Edition.
In short, is marching band still a good EC for me, and what approach should I have on AP CS and starting Science Olympiad? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.
@Cookiesandcreme
What specifically do you want to know about bus routes?
PLTW stands for Project Lead The Way which is the organization that created the Engineering and Biomedical Sciences programs.
What are you interested in doing in the future? I am in the engineering program and a lot of my friends are in the Biomed program (plus, I was in that class for three days).
Here is some stuff you can browse:
https://www.pltw.org/our-programs/pltw-engineering
https://www.pltw.org/our-programs/pltw-biomedical-science
@wonderfulreads which side do you like more? What do they do in both? And just how buses work in general because I’ve never needed to go on them
@Cookiesandcreme Do you mean which program do I like more?
In Engineering, you do a lot of 3D modeling and design, as well as basic engineering principles and career information. In upper levels you do big projects (usually for competions) like designing an apartment complex, etc.
For Biomed, there is a hypothetical dead person who suffers a boatload of medical problems, and use that to learn about all kinds of medical things. In upper levels, at my school at least, you do things with a hospital and their doctors.
As for buses, its pretty self explanatory? You are assigned a time and bus stop. In the mornings, you wait for your bus until it picks you up and takes you to school. After school, most schools have a “bus loop” or somewhere where all the buses gather. You get on your bus, and they drop you off at your stop.
School finished for me on Thursday… Omg I’m not a freshman anymore
ahh @neonerudite you’re so lucky…I’m deep in a pile of books that covers an entire library table right now…
