I just wanted to see if any 8th graders my about my age (13-14) wanted to talk! About anything, like high school next year! Plus if you're as obsessed with this site like I am. (>")> And what's your dream college (if you've got one)? Mine is Harvard.

OH By the way:

Freshman Schedule

I don't know that it's unhealthy, but being obsessed with a college in eight grade is a bit odd. Each to their own, and if you're serious about Harvard then load up on the Pre-AP courses. But you already knew that.

Not trying to sound preachy... but make sure that you really love Harvard the SCHOOL, not Harvard the NAME. Because.... well, I don't want you to become one of those annoying people obsessed with prestige =)

I just like coming on this site. And by the way I'm taking the most IB classes I can now.

Wow then I guess you're in.

yay smiles

cute, good luck, don't miss living life too much and you're set.

LilBabySeaOtter: How're you taking IB classes as an eighth grader? You mean MYP stuff or actual Diploma program?

my dream college is one of Ivy League...
but everytime i talk to people about it...
they just laugh at me
=[

I'm a senior. Here are some wise words.

Work hard in HS, but take time to enjoy it. Go to the football games, dances, etc. And don't get too focused on one school, because if you don't get in, you will be devestated.

If I had made a thread like this last year, I would have been flamed to death. Therefore, to spare you the therapy, I shall be nice.

Take this from a current freshman: Your interests will change. No matter how much you try to plan those APs and Harvard-happy ECs, they will change. I was convinced last year that Harvard would be the school for me. Now, I'm gung-ho about Chicago. And, chances are, my interests will change a bit by next year also.

Don't get hung up on the little things. If you can't take every single AP class available at your school, that is small potatoes compared to bigger things, such as getting a life and personality outside of Russian literature.

And yes, you will eventually laugh about your next four years. Eventually.

Yay! Advice from older people.... Thanks I guess? I plan applying to atleast 2 Ivies. And I meant I was taking IB's next year.

dude get a life...you're in middle school...live it up

Oh yeah, one more bit. Don't become a prestige whore. Many colleges offer a just as good, if not better, education than the Ivy League. The Ivy League is just a name.

And remember, your interests will change and your circumstances will change. There's no getting around that. Just because you say you're going to apply to 2 Ivies now doesn't mean you will.

snoopyiscool: Well I have thought about a local school... But for now thats a safety.

southernazn918: I have one.

Geez no one's coming...

Yikes, it's kind of scaring that 8th graders are on this website. That sounds WAY too early to start looking at colleges, let alone finding and becoming an active member of such a website as this one (I'd think that ~sophomore year of high school would be a better time to start).

As far as advice...hmm....don't get hell-bent on one school, and make sure you actually like the school for what it is, and not just for the Ivy League name (don't get eluded by prestige). Why are you so into Harvard (And at such a young age...have you already visited it? How much do you know about it, and what makes it so special to you compared to other universities?)? Be sure to study hard for your SATs/ACTs, and start those college applications the minute they're up (and don't wait until the last minute to turn them in)!

... Ok I'll remember that.

Maybe CC should make an Elementary and Middle School Forum, too? :D
