<p>There are many research programs for rising seniors. I think Some research places like NIH offer research oportunities to students during the school year as well, but you'll have to check on that. another thing that you can try is asking if you can work w/ professors at colleges or universities near you. I asked a professor if I could work as a lab assistant, and he was more than happy to have extra help in his lab.</p>

<p>You can also call up your local politician, hospital, school, etc. and just tell them you're interested in job shadowing/internship. Worst they can say is no, right? I have an internship this coming school year with a U.S. Congressman because I called his office and asked if I could. I live ~2 hrs from DC and I will be working with him in his local office when he is here, with his aides when he isn't, and spending approx. a week in DC with him during the session. You never know what you might get if you just call!! :)</p>
