High School Kid in Dubai- need help with courses for gr12

Hi. I live in Dubai, UAE and our school is... "unique". We do A levels, AP's, o levels SAT II's... almost everything. Anyway, I'm going to gr12 and need to make some tough choices.
Pls tell me which combination of courses seems better for a future econ major.

If I go to the 'science' section:
AP Eng
A level MATH+AP MATH CAL AB
AS level physics+ AP physics B (or should I take AP physics C??)
AP CHEM (or AP Stat, I really don't know which one to take..)
AP Econ (macro+micro) + AS Econ
and I'm self-studying AS Bus Studies.

Liberal Arts Section:
AP Eng
AS MATH (I'd be repeating math and give up A LEVEL MATH)
AP European History
AP Stat
AP Econ+AS Econ
AS Bus Studies
AP+AS Bio

I'd love to go to the lib section but I have to throw away physics and chemistry AP's...
I want to go to an ivy school and I heard that high school work load is very important. For our school, the science section has a bigger load. (or seems to)

PLS HELP ME OUT!!

I don't know much about the A-levels or about how your things in your school work. Given that you want to be an Econ major, I'd suggest you take Calc BC and not AB and if you do end up taking Physics, do Physics C. Remove Chem and take Stats, if you can do both, even better. Looks like you're going to do AP Econ and AP Eng in any case, so that's ok.

Another thing, take a tougher courseload only if you like what you're doing. You'd be better off doing things you like and not what colleges will like.

If you have any other questions, you can PM me or post them here. :)

Ah a fellow Dubaiiitte

For an Econ Major you would be better of taking science. However if you could take Stats in your science stream that is an advantage , as when studying Econ in college you will definitely have to take some amount fo Stats courses. Leave Chem out , it doesnt really help for Econ!

To show you are taking a harder courseload , do as Lakshya said and take the higher level Calculus (BC) and Physics C. Also Remember that you will need excellent grades to back up the heavy courseload. In terms of GPA , A 4.0 with a lighter courseload is better than 3.0 with a heavy courseload. So you will have to work.A lot.

Btw which school?

I'm a choueifattiiiiiii!!!!

Btw, isnt chem considered harder than stat?

I do not know if it is.

But the thing is , its much more practical to take Statistics. Because an Econ major would anyway have to take statistics classes. Chem has no part to play in Econ at all.

Chouiefat! Cool:P Im in Dubai Modern High.

If you have good grades in O-levels, it would be fine to throw physics and chemistry APs. O-levels satisfy the minimum requirement of almost all (if not all) American universities. For A-levels couse load isn't that important for the same reason (already done with O-levels).

Taking subjects related to your expected major doesn't helps much in admission, because unless you apply to specific programs, major isn't a factor in admission decisions.

PS:Your's must be the only school on planet which has both A-levels and APs :)
