I'm a sophmore in high school and i'm e-mailing college professors that are currently working on a research project (Psychology: Cognition, Perception etc or Neuroscience) and trying to obtain an internship in their lab during this summer. It has really become an endless search with countless "sorry we are not accepting high school students at this time", "check back before the summer", or no response at all.

I was wondering if anyone on the board could direct me towards any professors at Dartmouth University that are currently working on a research project, or a professor you have previously worked with on a project, or has accepted high school students, or anyone that I could contact.
I was hoping to work on a project that I could eventually enter into the Intel Science Talent Search during my senior year.

No offense meant here.

You're showing some true colors, since you only posted this on the boards of the various Ivies (and only Ivies), it strikes me that you're more interested in resume-padding than actual research. You come across that way in your post here as well. Professors like people who are legitimately interested in the work they do, not people who are doing it only to win the Intel or look good on paper. Frankly, judging by your post, you'd fit into the latter category rather than the former.

Again, no offense, but your attitude doesn't seem to be in the right place. Another thing about this post; blind chain letters to institutions, especially when you don't get their names right (it's Dartmouth College not Dartmouth University), don't often work.

ooouuhhhh, the man!

Wisconsin sticks a fork in him/her.

no offense petals but your done.

On the other hand, there isn't anything wrong with looking for experience, experience of any sort, in a research environment.

Actually, as of now the only people I have contacted are at non-Ivy League schools. I feel terrible for spamming, in fact I posted this message identically on all the boards and just replaced the college name (I am aware that it is "college" but all the other schools are "universities" which explains the typo). I'm resorting to such crude methods as a result of the verbal abuse I have been reciving from my research advisor because of my lack of progress. (I am up at three o'clock in the morning doing research. I don't recieve much more than three hours of sleep per night). I only contact professors that are researching topics that I am inherently interested in which is why I have no progress.
I sincerely apologize.
