High School Math and... Psychology?

Okay, I'm a junior in Southern California, and am very, very clueless when it comes to colleges. Seriously. That's why I'm here to get all the info I can from you guys. =)

I am currently in pre-calc honors for math. I'm very bad at math, it's just that I started honors way back in 6th grade and I've managed to get a B- or better every semester, but usually a B-. This semester, I have a C-, which will be weighted up to a B-.

Now, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I pretty much just have two choices. I can either take AP Stats, or I can take College Algebra-Trig. The first class is (duh) an AP class, I've never taken one before, and I'm SCARED TO DEATH!!! I know that it'll be different from past math classes, so I may or may not do well, but I've heard so many things... I'm still worried that if I take it, I'll be overwhelmed and get a D, or worse. =( The second class is the non-honors version of the class I'm currently taking. I like the idea of taking that one, because I can review everything I did/didn't learn this year, but it's taking a step back...

So I guess my questions are... would colleges care if they saw this? I have a 3.67 GPA (fresh-junior), and I got a 4.16 GPA last semester (max. of 5.0 GPA). All I know at the moment is that I want to be a psychologist, so I don't even know which colleges are best for that. I've heard that the UC (University of California) schools are pretty good for psychology majors. So if you could help me out with that as well, I'd appreciate it. =) And I'm only interested in attending colleges in Southern California... so that should help you guys out if you're going to create a list.

Thank you again, and sorry it's so long!

Err... bump? No one seems to be replying to this. Did I post it in the wrong forum?

Retaking your math course at the non-honors level isn't a good idea. A better one would be to use the summer to review and relearn your math fundamentals. Look into a community college or correspondence course.

AP Stats is not a terribly hard class, and it is very useful for someone in the social science field. Talk to the teacher about your concerns, and see what he or she would advise.

Thank you so much for the reply! =) I decided to take AP Stats after all. I did end up talking to the teacher with my dad, and if the class does happen to be too hard, my dad will review his material and help me out.

Good job! Stats is especially important in psychology, so you won't regret takng it.
