High school physics

I want to be a film major in college but I am looking at competitive schools. How important is physics (like how highly do they regard the rigor of the course?) I am a full ib student and would have to drop out of other classes to take physics and want to know if it really helps

What would be the science courses in your four years of high school? What other courses would you choose instead of physics?

You need to check each college to see what they want to see. But having 3-4 years of science, including one each of biology, chemistry, and physics (not necessarily at the AP or IB-HL level) tends to be best at covering the requirements or recommendations for more competitive admissions colleges.

I took earth science in 8th grade, honors chem, ap bio and I’m taking ib environmental senior year as of now (which I would take instead of physics)

I think that would be just fine for a prospective film major. Double check with your guidance counselor.

I had the same dilemma my senior year and I ended up taking AP Biology instead of AP Physics. Since you have sufficient science credits and your major has nothing to do with physics in general, I wouldn’t worry to much about it.

After all, I got in to a selective school without physics!
