Hi everyone. I am starting to get a little worried about my college admissions process as a transfer student because i was suspended in high school (junior year). i have a good blurb explaining what i learned from being suspended, but there is still that check on my record.
GPA 3.7
Extracurriculars
Phi Theta Kappa honor society
Supplemental Instruction leader
Enactus club
Work:
promoted to customer service
Volunteer:
about 3 hours a week of volunteer work for phi theta kappa
If someone could tell me what the chances are that i will be denied from a school just because of my high school suspension that would be great.
It depends on what the high school suspension was for. Some offenses are less bad than others.
You are a college student now. Unless that HS suspension is due to assaulting a teacher I doubt it will be considered at all. I assume your nose has been clean since?
Thanks for all of your responses. I was suspended for drinking at a school basketball game. it was a four day out of school suspension. they asked for a short description about the circumstances of the suspension where i wrote about how i have since learned how to stand up for myself and recognize bad situations when i am faced with them. i have demonstrated my academic abilities and am just scared they don’t care to deny someone who was once suspended.
