This is my second year in high school. I plan on pursuing Mechanical Engineering in college but I am not sure what kind of extra curricular activities I need. Should they be more geared toward mechanical engineering? Also is a lot of computer programming needed in mechanical engineering like for cars? What is probably the best college for Mechanical Engineering, preferably in cars. </p>

<p>i think there are competitions like SkillsUSA that might interest you. i'm really not sure though, you should look into that.</p>
<p>You could look into researching with a Professor.</p>
<p>I totally suggest doing internships (my mistake! I didn't do one! I really want to now).</p>
<p>Also, check out activites like Science Olympiad. That's a great way to get the technical stuff.</p>
