High school with no grades

I go to a Quaker high school with no grades, which means no GPA. Instead of giving colleges grades they give written narratives of our performance in classes. I have taken very hard classes and have done well, but will this old me back in getting into college? Has anyone else had a similar experience, where have you gotten in? (I have a 31 ACT)

My D was part of a small program in her HS that had narratives rather than traditional grades. She had no issue getting into college. My D (and everyone in her program) got into a very appropriate school – I surmise that they all would have got into pretty much all of the same schools if they had traditional GPAs. People from her program got into a wide range of schools from small LACs to large public flagships with no issues. I would not worry about it at all.

And as a general rule, I would not worry about things you can’t change. I assume your HS has been successful in getting its graduates into appropriate college for many years and will continue to do so going forward.

Don’t worry about it. The colleges know which schools work that way and how to deal with it. My daughter has a friend who goes to a school like that and he was accepted at Columbia this year.
