So my high school in Canada doesn't rank (not even in percentiles) or give a cumulative GPA. If I'm applying to american universities (mostly the Ivies) will this have a negative impact? I heard that most universities recalculate GPA based on your transcript anyways, but will not having a rank hurt me?

Thanks

No, lots of kids don’t have ranks.

Not having a rank won’t count against you, but not having one may influence how your transcript is read given that there’s not much context i assume.

Lots of US high schools no longer rank kids. My daughter was at a very good public HS for her first two years, and they abolished rankings to reduce some of the pressure (as well as the accompanying eating disorders, depressions, etc.)

Universities will know the caliber of your HS, look at your standardized test scores, and calculate a GPA for you based on your transcript.
