Highschool research

Do admissions people value highschool research? I know it probably depends on the research, so my question is would extensive research on nanoparticles be impressive?
Also would research done at a top internationally ranked medical center also be impressive?
Thanks!

It would be helpful to have a letter of recommendation from the PI saying you contributed significantly to research (rather than just cleaning lab equipment, etc). It would also help to get your name on a paper/poster.

Physics?

If you are black, then yes.

Asian: no. try the football team.

It doesn’t matter what your race is, doing research in high school is impressive as long as you are passionate about it and can show that you are doing meaningful work. But don’t do it just because, it should be because you have a real interest.

Disregarding the incredibly racist comment by dundunyang directed towards people of African-American and Asian descent, I agree with juillet. Follow your heart, not what people tell you adcoms like.

Thanks!
I have been doing the Nanoparticle (chemistry actually) research for over a year now and will continue throughout my senior year. I will be entering into several competitions presenting the project.
And I am actually doing all the experiments, I have a mentor because it is required, but I am 100% involved.
Also, the medical research was also completely hands on, in fact the majority of people who were involved were college and med students, and I did just as much work as they did.
And I am going to be getting a letter of recommendation from renound neurosurgeon who put together the whole opportunity.
