Hillsdale College

I'm a high school senior and trying to decide on a school that's the right fit, I want a school that's rigorous and strong academically and I also play a sport and was hoping to get playing time and a potentially an athletic scholarship. Hillsdale fits both of those criteria which was great. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is what I've heard about the conservative atmosphere and especially articles like this: http://www.collegemagazine.com/the-top-10-most-sexually-repressed-colleges/ However I went on an overnight visit there recently and I really didn't think it was as conservative as some make it out to be.. can anyone give me an idea of what the social scene actually looks like?

It’s fiscally conservative and rather socially conservative.
On the other hand, HIllsdale is rigorous academically- look for the thread where Warriordaughter posted her story - she was looking for a conservative college though.

Rigorous, strong academically, possibility to play a sport = there are lots of colleges that are less conservative than Hillsdale and would meet your criteria…

What are your stats?
What’s your parents’ budget?
What’s in-state for you?

33 act, over 4.0 gpa, probably want to get the net price to at least 20,000 or under 20,000 and from Ohio

If you are worried about the conservative atmosphere, keep looking. There are many good LACs that will offer you enough merit aid with your stats.

What’s your sport? What are your academic interests? How far are you willing to travel?

I’m interested in biology or something in the sciences and I’m willing to travel up to 6 hours away

Hillsdale is not a Christian college…conservative but not Christian.
