Is a history credit required in college? I received a 4 on the AP exam and I'm unsure why I didn't receive a 5 considering my SAT II was a 790. Nonetheless I was wondering whether there was a waiver exam for exemption at some of the top colleges, which require a 5, or whether I could take another, possibly easier class. I'm not to fond of going through a whole semester of American History or History for that matter if I will not pursue the subject as a career. I am also taking AP Economics and was not sure whether I could use that as a credit. Would this also be a hard test to make a 5 on?

History usually isn't "required" at colleges/universities. It's much easier to get away without ever taking a history class in college than it is to never take a math class in college according to my Algebra II teacher. However, history classes (as well as other classes that aren't pure history) do help you satisfy your general requirements, so they could in a sense be required, but not really.

It all depends on the school. Sometimes history/social science is required. Sometimes a 4 will get you credit, sometimes it will only get you advanced placement into another history course, sometimes it won't get you anything. You need to check the websites of the schools you're interested in. There is no "general" answer.
