Does anyone have any information about these departments at Penn? How are the professors? Class size? Advising? . Any information would be helpful.

bumpppppppp

Both are top-notch. I was an IR major and I can answer any questions you may have. If you do a search you can find some posts I’ve made containing a large spiel on why Penn IR is awesomeness. Else you can PM me.

hmm…UPenn or Georgetown SFS for IR?

If you go by rankings, SFS is higher; however, the program is very rigid, and it gives you very little flexibility outside of the School. I had to make that decision, and I am going to choose Penn for a variety of reasons. Ilovebagels has given a really comprehensive look into Penn’s IR opps… basically, the One University Policy lets you take classes at any other school… like the ability to take int’l trade/finance/business at Wharton and take classes at the law school as an undergrad CAS student is reallllly awesome… and overall Penn is a better school academically, so if you ever want to switch or double major or anything like that, Penn is way better. For example, if I went to Georgetown, I would do the international political economy major… at Penn, I could double major in IR and econ… Penn’s econ dpt. is like top 5 in the country. At GT, this wouldn’t be possible. You have to stick with SFS… and such. Also, GT wouldn’t accept most of my transfer credit from Salisbury University (concurrently enrolled my jr. and sr. years)
