Hello friends!
I am an aspiring history major, and I am looking at small, liberal arts schools in PA. I want a college with a very good history department and a lot of history majors who are passionate about history. Juniata seems like a great school, but I'm worried about the fact that people only mention the science departments. Is a history degree at Juniata worthwhile? If not, what are the best places to get a history degree of all the small LAC's in PA/on the east coast?

Also, sorry this is a long question, but if anyone that goes to Juniata could describe their social experience (ie: parties, making friends, clubs, ect), I would really appreciate it!!!

Thank you so much!!

I don’t know anything about Juniata, but I recommend that you look into Franklin & Marshall. My friend is a double major in history and economics at F&M and she absolutely loves the history program and raves about her professors.

Honestly, do you really think you would have trouble finding a good history program in the northeast? I’m sure every school from Harvard to Sarah Lawrence and BU to Emerson has a good program, simply because of the glut of qualified history PhDs in the market. Instead, focus on the culture of the school and see if you can find a good ‘fit’ school. There are programs where you absolutely have to consider the quality of the department – physics, for example; you don’t go to Sarah Lawrence to study physics – but majors like history and biology and English are less likely to be of questionable quality at most schools.
