I went to Las Positas community college in the Bay Area for my first two years of college, didn't get accepted into any schools as a Film Major, and just moved down to LA to go to Santa Monica College for another year to increase my GPA and chances before transferring into a school down here (my top choice is UCLA). Since Film is so hard to get into, I changed my major to History and am currently doing my prerequisite work. My current GPA is 3.387, but I am estimating I can raise it to around a 3.51 after this semester and hopefully even higher after the next semester. What are my chances of getting in to UCLA as a History major?

The average GPA admitted for a history major was a 3.74. That doesn’t mean you can’t get in with your current GPA, you’re just going to have to stand out more. See if you can do the honors program at SMC. Also, I’d say to write killer essays for both prompts. People say extracurriculars aren’t weighted as heavily, but it wouldn’t hurt as long as it doesn’t drag down your GPA.

if you finish most of ur pre reqs by this fall then I giveu about a 35% chance. But who knows ur essays might get you in too
