Hey! Can anyone tell me about History Major in Wellesley? Special and unique things about it. How is the department? Thanks!

No one studys history in Wellesley? Can anyone tell me about it? I really appreciate it!!

I studied Physics.

Sorry -- I haven't taken a history course yet. Since most Wellesley students spend more time on Community (a nifty online thing for Wellesley students only) than on College Confidential, you're less likely to get students' opinions here. From what I can gather tho, the history department is pretty strong but very specialized. So professors have extensive knowledge about a specific period in history that they'll rarely stray from. The specialized thing also means that the quality of the department varies: it depends on who is teaching the part of history that interests you.

The extent of my knowledge of the history department thus far consists of the fact that one of the history profs is pretty darn good looking (I think he teaches American history). If that's not inspiration to take history, I don't know what is.

I found this site while looking up what stores are in the ville. I'm trying to see if they sell ugg boots...

Anyway, a lucky stumble: http://www.*****.com/Explorer/Reviews/ReviewDetails.aspx?CollegeId=199&SurveyId=8367

Thank you so much verbivorous! UGG boots? I am planing to get a couple pairs of them once i get into Wellesley! =) Well, thanks again for the history info!

haha^^ ... thanks, catsushi
now I have to take history when I go to Wellesley

it depends on what type of history you are interested in (European, American etc.)

I have taken 3 history classes at Wellesley and am taking 2 more next semester if you have questions...

I am taking AP European History in my HS right now, but is not very passionate about it because i don't really like the teacher's teaching style. I took AP US History last year, and loved it. How are the history teachers at Wellesley? I heard that they are very passionate about what they teach.

there are both good and bad professors in every department- just because someone is knowledgeable doesn't necessarily make them a good teacher
the professor that I had for WWII wasn't good but the other professors (Chinese history and South Asia) were really good... it all depends
