Just wondering, if I do go to HKUST for comp engineering, will I be able to get a good job in India?

Have you got the offer from HKUST?

in india?? im not sure but im an indian myself and i would think that, seeing as HK is in the middle of the IT boom and is a technological hub (combined with the fact that HKUST is BRAND NEW in terms of technology as the uni is only 11 years old and frequently updates its tech) it is a good place to study and foreign employers will appreciate this.

Steamgamer - Yes, I have got my acceptance.

darthcat - I am still skeptic about how these foreign colleges will hold up against degrees from Indian Colleges for an Indian employer. There is no doubt that IIT and BITS > HKUST (in India), but what about other colleges like Manipal and the NITs?

I don’t think Indian employers will behold a Hong Kong Undergrad degree. Or even the middle east employers. But for an MBA degree, I cannot say, a HK Masters degree may land you a job with an Indian employer or may not. A UK/USA/Canada/German(engineering)/Swiss (Hotel management) undergrads do have a bit more chances to be employed by Indian employers. But its always : where you undergrad, you look for your first job, that’s where there recognize you
Post grads from UK/US/Canada do have great weight-age in the Indian market.

But undergrad of HK will probably get you offers in China or HK or maybe Singapore, that’s it. Already the job scenes are bad worldwide, UK being the worst, hence local university undergrads lap up the local jobs, that’s the trend right now. So if you undergrad in Singapore, you work in Singapore, and if you study in HK you will have to look for a job there.
After a post grad one can think of shifting to India…that’s the only way.
