I'm new to this site, and I have been looking around at the posts. I've been seeing a lot of people post about what they need to be admitted into specific colleges/universities. What I mostly see are questions about AP courses, EC's, Class Rank, GPA, and standardized test scores. I wanted to see what the community thought the admissions offices would look the highest upon. So, of the above 5 what does everyone think the most important is? (I fully understand that all are important)

Well the way I see it is one thing may be more important than the other but it’s the whole package that gets you in usually. If I had to say one thing, probably GPA/transcript. A 2400 SAT with a low gpa doesn’t give the same message as a 1950 with a 3.9 gpa.

I’m no expert. Just my .02

Well, from a lot of college books I’ve been looking at, I’ve gathered that test scores are the determining factor in whether you do or don’t have a chance to get in. If they’re good enough, then your GPA, class rank, AP courses, ECs, etc. come into play, more significantly, however, if you’re looking to get scholarship money. However, I also think that your application, especially your essays, play a very important factor in what colleges will think.

i forgot about the essays, duh!! ha.

Essays and ECs are the most important. The transcript, GPA, and scores are mostly used for determining whether you’re qualified. Once you make the cut of those academically qualified, essays and ECs take top priority for determining who gets in, so I’d rank those as most important.
