hmmm... yale? any chance?

Well, this will be kept brief. I would love to go to yale, so this will be my qualification list

Gender: male

Ethnicity: white

Grade: 4.0 unweighted (97.8)

Rank: 4

ACT: 34 (math/english)

Other ACT scores: reading=36 science=29 essay=9

I read yale does not need subject tests if you take the act, so...

the most rigerous schedule my school will allow (does that mean anything, as my school is relatively small and does not offer a lot of aps, but i took the most rigerous schedule they offered like i said)

EC's

-quizbowl since 9th grade, varsity each year and jv 9th and tenth

-second highest academic average in class for 9th grade

-entered science fair, does it matter if I did not win? because i did not

-won award for movie i edited and acted in

-edited and created the movies our school uses for graduation (the ones we give to the parents with a slide show of all the senior's pics, the ceremony, etc)

-got invited by school to governors honor program

-was invited to take Kenesaw State math test (if you are from Georgia, you might know what it is, basically an impossibly hard math test)

-won state jv in 10th grade, placed 4th in state varsity last year

-wrote a novel that I am trying to get published

-working at average job

-can get recomendation from 2nd in command from boeing if it means anything lol

-um, well, thats about all i can muster for ecs... any advice for others?

And, as a side note, I only took the act once, so i wonder if i should take again to raise science score or are the other scores good enough so that it would look better to not take it more than once (whichever they look more favorably on)

Thank you all, sorry know it was not very short, but

-also, forgot, got invited to national competition for quizbowl jv in 10th grade and varsity in 11th grade

and also, i helped start prefect system at my school and was charteer member as academic prefect

Hm. I think you’re going to need to boost your ACT scores. (What’s your raw score?)
I think you’ll need a few more impressive ECs than these, but then again with some great essays, anything can happen.

These all seem relatively mundane. I feel kinda harsh saying this. >_>. Try getting that book published, and possibly emphasize it on your app. Maybe see if you can take the AMC tests or get on the GA ARML team or something to show your passion in that sense.

Some community service would be nice too.

Yeah, I would agree about the community service. You might want to take at least one or two sat iis just to be safe.
would you mind chancing me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/724375-please-chance-me-brown-jhu-stanford-columbia.html</a></p>

Wait why did you separate math/English act? Is that all Yale looks at??

“the most rigerous schedule”

Apparently you didn’t take the most rigorous English course. ;)

Your GPA is good… but your EC’s need some work… Try to think of one thing you like or something that you feel should change in your community, and act on that. Go out into the community; don’t just stay confined to school activities. Good luck!

^ Chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/724212-chance-rising-junior-please.html</a> Thanks
