Hofstra vs Pitt vs Temple vs GW

I’ve gotten accepted into Temple with Honors, GW, Pitt, Hofstra with Honors and Drexel but I am having a really tough time deciding on which to enroll in. I am going to major in Business, maybe finance to be more specific. I want a diverse atmosphere with many opportunities for internships. I also want the school to have a really good reputation for business graduates. Ill describe what the options I have below:

Temple
I was accepting into their honors program, giving a big scholarship and money to study abroad. I would only have to pay $11,000 a year to attend. I know some people that are already going here and I live kind of close by. I like the diversity on campus but i don’t know how well respected Temple is in the business community and how many opportunities I would have for internships compared to like GW

GW
I was accepted and given a $20,000 a year scholarship but I would still have to pay $46,000 a year. I want to go because I know DC has a lot of opportunities and I might want to get involved with the government later on. But i dont know if GW is worth all the money and idk what it’s reputation is for a business school since most people go into politics. I do live a couple hours away and I only know one person who goes there now so I would have to start over

Pitt
I like Pitt and my mom went there so she really wants me to go too. I have a lot of family in Pittsburgh which would be nice. I know their business school is okay. I haven’t heard from the financial aid office yet. I don’t think Pitt is that diverse which would bother me coming from a 60% minority population in high school.

Hofstra
Hofstra was a back up and I got a big scholarship and into their great honors program. I still would be paying $22,000 a year and idk if their business school is worth it. I also live 3-4 hours away but do know one person who is definitely going there. I like the location because it in near nyc but still seems kind of far away

Drexel
I applied to drexel last minute. I like the co-ops but when I visited the campus seemed boring and the classrooms plain. Drexel is a lot of money that I really don’t want to spend on a school I don’t like very much. I would pay $30,000 a year. It is kind of close to home but I don’t know anyone going to Drexel.

Thanks for all your help! I am so confused so any opinions would be great

PS: I also got waitlisted at NYU but I read that they take people off the waitlist based on the amount of money they have so they dont have to give away any more financial aid. So based on that I probably wouldn’t be taken off and if I was I still couldn’t afford it

Dear LeftField11 : With a focus on business and the listing of schools, I have some very specific recommendations to offer you. Please see if these ideas resonate with you.

Drexel employs a very different calendar than many East Coast schools - as a result, their “Spring term” continues well into June which can greatly affect your ability to secure full summer internships particularly outside the Philadelphia area. You will want to consider their academic calendar and where you will want your internships to occur.

Temple University happens to be in one of the harder core areas of Philadelphia and from a pure logistics perspective would not be a personal choice. Your experience however might be different.

GW at $46,000 represents a potential huge debt load after four years and should be something you consider immediately as most business school respect does stem from an MBA program (your future) which would imply even more debt.

From this list, Pitt vs. Hofstra would be the real decision point based on price point and locations - you will need to visit both to draw a better conclusion. The Zarb School at Hofstra enjoyed a tremendous reputation fifteen years back however that has been slightly eroded recently. The School is making strides at rebounding nationally.

As a final note, NYU has just launched word to their freshman class that all-in costs might be as much as $72,000 per year which has officially crossed the absolute lunacy level by anyone’s measure.

You should choose Pitt, definitely. It’s the best option you have here.

@LeftField11 curious at which one you chose and if happy with that choice. Thanks!
