Holistic Application Review University of Oregon

UPDATE: Another ACCEPTANCE for my boy…not UO of course. He has been offered admission at Oregon State University. 4 weeks to decision as promised and that is carrying a lot of weight with him. Does he decide to commit to the rival BEAVERS who are showing him love? Not sure yet…

OSU is great tonymannara. Son’s best friend is there and extremely happy. My son committed there but change in April after visiting another campus where he was accepted. He also got into UO but it was too little too late.

Very next mailing day more from OSU…scholarship. Son is feeling the love from OSU who held to their word AND is offering scholarship…as opposed to Oregon giving us false information at least twice as to response times and dragging the process out even after visiting campus and being in touch with an admissions rep through the process. He feels like Oregon is simply waiting to see if they have anyone better apply (he is well within the acceptance range) and that doesn’t exactly give him the warm and fuzzies. Better than Washington I guess, who hasn’t even acknowledged his existence since applying in October and visiting in November. He wants to see what Oregon says, but is feeling the Beaver love. It would be a sad state of affairs for the Ducks if they lost a kid who grew up in a UO home because they couldn’t keep to their word or in some other way show a kid some love…but I go where my boy goes and if that means switching sides and burning my Ducks gear so be it. We shall see.

@tonymannara Don’t burn the Ducks gear! Hold on to it and sell it on eBay when Disney makes the movie of their infamous bowl choke. Lol. Seriously there is lots to love about U of O. But many of the public school teachers here in the Portlandia suburbs are OSU alums, so I respect that choice.

LOL…which one?

There is a TON of things to love about UO! That is why we are so frustrated. OSU is a very respectable school and they are showing my son love which goes a long way with him. Should he choose to go there however there WILL be a burning and after 20 years of support the only duck allowed in my home shall be Peking. SOmetimes you have to take a side.

Still holding out hope UO gets back to us soon so my son can make whatever he feels is the best choice.

UW can suck it. We hated the vibe of that place before we even found a parking spot. Whether they accept him or not they are not in the running.

Thanks for your response!

UO online application updated today…on a Tuesday…

ADMISSION OFFERED!!!

Well done tonymannara! Congratulations to you son. I am trilled for him.

Just was reading this thread - was so happy for your son that he ended up being accepted at UO @tonymannara! you may not still be reading College Confidential any more but if you are, I assume he accepted there? If so, how is he liking it?
