Good question! My nephew appealed but didn’t succeed, and he had a lot of great ECs - Eagle Scout, excellent musician, etc.
I have seen this somewhere but not sure where! It is less than 40 percent. The overall acceptance rate is 40 percent, so when you remove auto admits from that, it will drop dramatically.
The important thing to remember is that major matters too. The less competitive majors take more holistic review candidates.
That depends on if you are applying as a freshman or a transfer. For freshman, your rank at your highschool, extra curriculars, and essays matter a lot. As a transfer, a positive academic trend, a clear and interesting statement of purpose, and completed technical courses make you stand out
