55,000 applicants!!!! and only 7000 enrolmment spots!!!! WHat are my chances when i apply next year when I'm a senior? Only 12% is enrolled! I'm really nervous I will not be accepted with 55,000 other applicants.

"Students from within SDSUs service area south of state route 56 in San Diego County and high schools within Imperial County who meet CSU eligibility requirements are guaranteed admittance. " I live 6 hours away from San Diego.

I really want to get into SDSU, what are my chances!??!?!

First of all, that 7,000 number is how many enroll, not how many are accepted. If you go to the common data set for Fall 2007 (can't find 2008's), which is located here:

you'll see that they accepted 20,629 applicants that year out of the 46,000 who applied, of which 5,601 then enrolled.

Also, with a 3.95 GPA and a 2100 SAT, your statistics are way above the normal applicant who wants to go to San Diego State.

You will get in easily (especially if you applied by the November 30th priority date)--so please stop worrying. (Even if they do accept only 20,000 out of 55,000 applicants).

The statistics are staggering, especially this bit that sort of surprised me: "Overall, SDSU received 61,492 applications for the fall 2008 semester, which ranked second in the country."

I too am nervous despite meeting the requirements in that last paragraph.

I wish you the best of luck; I hope you do the same for me....
