Holy Cross ED 2023 - Is No News Good News?

My son’s application from a very competitive high school in the NorthEast was submitted 11/15. He has a 35 ACT and asked for that to be considered, but it didn’t officially reach HC until 12/3. (Emailed by his HS 11/27)

Last year his HS had nobody admitted to HC, and usually very few if any apply. This year so far there have been two athletic commits, one in late November (track) and one in late December (lacrosse.)

We haven’t heard anything, and it’s now January 4th. In addition to a 35 ACT and a 3.5+ GPA with all honors classes and AP classes like AP Calc, he has extra curriculars like four years of band and orchestra (clarinet), four years of lacrosse (goalie), Catholic Church youth group, tutoring younger children, several visits, an interview, and many online check-ins.

No news this late … is that a bad sign for ED? What do you think it means? Is there anything we should be doing to check in with the Admissions Office at this point, or is it best to stay silent?

Make sure to have the high school submit (or check to see if they submitted) your son’s grades from the “first marking period” as they are required for Early Decision Applications… they will not release a decision without getting those. Best of luck!

Thank you! The HC Portal says they were received. ???

Have you heard anything yet?

We submitted our ED app on the 12/14 and my son got a call on 1/10 right after school from a Worcester number. He didn’t answer it (thought it was telemarketer–lol) and they did not leave a vmail. A day later (last night!) he got an email with a link to his acceptance letter. Crusader class of 2023!
