Home decor projects! Help me find..(fill in the blank)!

Green is definitely on it’s way back. All the housing shows I watch have been using hunter green as cabinet color in the kitchen.

I love that kitchen!

Also, seeing a surge in Blue - even blue kitchen cabinets.

Instead of painting a sample on a wall, I suggest painting a large piece of Masonite board. We did that to test colors for our exterior. You can get a 4’ x 8’ board cut in thirds or quarters (or smaller) at most Home Depot stores. Boards allow the flexibility to move it around to different locations in the room, and also test under different lighting and at different times of day.

Edit: oops… I just read @somemom post

Agree that that kitchen is updated but still gives a WARM not sterile feel. I am a big fan of white subway tile but that green with the cabinets/floor/walls is :ok_hand:

That kitchen is gorgeous! I really like the green subway tile and I probably would have never picked it from a sample. Lately I prefer more a subtle vs busy backsplash.

Love, love, love, love cabinets to the ceiling. I’ve never understood why that space should go unused. Sure, it’s not easily reachable, but most of us have plenty of things we don’t often use that can go into those spaces or, as shown in that picture, used for ambient lighting or decoration. They also fill and complete the wall IMO.

We’ve just returned from our trip to Maine to close on (and CLEAN!) our cabin in the woods. It appears to have Shaker blue cabinets:

But, when we removed one of the small cabinet doors to take to Home Depot to find a matching paint for the front door, we were astonished to find that the cabinets are very GREEN with a blue undertone. The paint we chose is called Pinehill Green. It’s an almost perfect match, but is unequivocally green in the can, grey-blue on the door:

(Wish I had a picture of the paint in the can sitting on the front porch in daylight. It looks absolutely nothing like the color you’re seeing in the pics, yet the pics are true to what you see in the room.)

Anyway, we will be returning in June (through November) and have a lot to do to make this place “ours,” but what fun, right?

I love this thread and these pics. Keep 'em coming.

Yes! We had some drywall pieces hanging around and H cut them into good size pieces for me (14" square or so) just this morning. Perfect… AND, I found what I think is the perfect color to replace the Revere pewter. Ben Moore Silver Chain. I think I love it!

Silver chain was on of the colors I had painted on a poster board and moved around my room. It’s blue undertones was very apparent with the lighting on some walls in my kitchen. I loved it on other walls. I did end up using revere pewter, which on some was had a slight green undertone .
Paint is sooo hard!

It’s so funny how paint color changes in a space. We really love Revere Pewter in our hallway and stairwell. But in the kitchen, it just looks…brown. I wanted so much to like it! And tried to for about a week, until it just broke me.

I think that white shaker kitchen with the subtle green subway shown above would be a perfect compliment to the home with oak cabinetry. I personally would not have oak in the kitchen, that would just be too much oak.

Okay I don’t want to detail this thread or anything but I have to come back and say that we repainted the kitchen today with the Silver Chain and the verdict is in…I LOVE IT, it’s exactly what I had envisioned. In my kitchen not seeing any undertones at all.

Now, if my refrigerator would ever come… We could fill that empty space

Silver Chain looks fantastic in your kitchen! I can definitely see why you love it!

Great choice! :+1:

Nice choice. If I could redo my cabinets I’d do white.
What refrigerator are you waiting on? I’ve been waiting on a refrigerator since last July!

Ugh, this one…

Since July…I might cry! Serious first world problems, I know…

We checked around for other places where it might be in stock (we bought from a locally owned appliance center) and since we ordered in February, the price has gone up over $1100!!! Ummmm, we’ll wait.
