We are also waiting on a built in KitchenAid. When we ordered it in July they told us it would arrive in early November. It’s a local appliance store and they took our old one away and gave us a loaner. It’s an old Kenmore but it works. It looks a bit silly in the space. The owner told my husband he doesn’t know when it will get here. Early on we could have switched to a SubZero but it didn’t have ice and water in the door and it was $2000 more. Now they say they can’t get Sub Zero even if we pay more.
Our store doesn’t know anything either. We still have our old fridge (a crummy old white top freezer model), I refuse to put it in the space. So we’ll leave it in the dining room where it’s been during the remodel. All our other appliances are in, which I guess is good, except we purposely chose matching KitchenAid models… So nothing to do but wait, I guess.
But the counters are going in on Tuesday after being on back order, so looks like I might be able to cook next week!
Glad you both have appliances to use while waiting for the new ones to come. 2 weeks ago our hot water heater died. Come to learn, we had a commercial model rather than a residential. Plumbers checked with all their suppliers and were told it would be 3 months before they’d have another one with the same specs. Many discussions later it was determined we’d have to switch to 2 tankless heaters to equal what the old heater did. Luckily they were able to get those. We had no hot water for a week - couldn’t have done it for months.

Praying to every god known to man that our fridge lasts for at least a few more years!
My washer and dryer aren’t doing so well but there is an old pair the previous owners left in the basement. We purposefully haven’t gotten rid of them or the old fridge just in case.
Anyway, back to the topic du jour. Shout out to @scubasue , my kitchen contractor is pricing out new sliders with integrated blinds, we’re leaning toward going with that option!!!
@JustaMom5465…we don’t have any open wall space for any type of curtain/drape in most of the rooms in our house (most windows face view and most of the walls are windows), so we can only have blinds. I wish I had them on all my windows because of the cleaning factor alone.
If privacy on your slider is an issue, you might ask your contractor if the integrated shades come with an option for top down/bottom up shades
When the sun is shining in your slider doors do you need to open them often? It looks like you have plenty of space above the doors to put a roller blind. My friend did this and it works great. It’s inobtrusive and does the trick. Much cheaper than most other solutions.
@gouf78 , the slider leads out to the back deck and pool, so yes we do use it frequently. I don’t think roller shades would work for us… Good idea though!
@scubasue , plenty of privacy so top down only would be fine!
I’m having no luck with my searches. I’d love to find this tile because it brings back some happy memories. I hope you can see that it’s a 3D tile with an elongated oval center. I don’t need all of the colors, but two or three would be great. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Could this be what you are looking for?
That’s it! Thank you so much. I kept trying various image searches and got all sorts of odd responses. You found it so quickly.
It appears that Heath has changed some of its color options since this pattern was brought back in 2003, but there are still several that would work. Now I just need to see if I can justify the price. It may end up being an insert with a coordinating field tile.
Glad I was able to help! The tile is super cool. Good luck with the project!
I don’t know if I shared this with you all before but when you’re out and about and see a product you like and wonder how to find it to purchase or where to purchase something similar OR to remember the item…if you’re a Pinterest user…
Go to your Pinterest app
On the search bar click the camera
Take a picture of the item you like
Pinterest then will generate similar items on their website
You can then choose one and pin it to one of your boards or save it otherwise!!
I have done this often for home decor items
Just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions! We decided to just do a small 24” vanity, quartz counter and under mount sink. Lead time for the cabinetry is November, for anyone considering a kitchen or bath project
Yep. We’re in the process of furnishing a cabin we recently bought. The bath vanity will be a pickup from Home Depot (stock order) in July, beds (we have mattresses) won’t be delivered until September, the sofa in October (if we get lucky), and waiting on the refrigerator delivery may keep us there into November. The supply chain is still a mess.
We were talking to our kitchen contractor about this today (so grateful that he was able to start our project in early April, rather than mid June like he initially estimated). Evidently the cabinet makers are raising prices, in response to higher material costs. And rather than just raising them, they’ve announced that prices will rise in July. So of course everyone has ordered lots of stuff in advance, resulting in the longer back orders. His opinion, anyway… Makes sense.
@Silpat if you’re anywhere near Sausalito, Ca you can visit Heath in person and look at the discounted tiles.
A right paint color. For the porch ceiling. Is charcoal too dark? I have leftover charcoal paint.
